    Hi all,

I'm having some issues while gaming and it appears to affect all games. Games would freeze up every 5-10 secs momentarily. This is becoming very problematic and I think it's getting on borderline unplayable!

I'm not too sure exactly what's causing this problem. I've defragged the hdd numerous times. I've also defragged the paging file. Also made sure to minimise background processing while in game.

Does anybody know what could be causing this issue? Do you think this is hardware of software related? I have a feeling that this is perhaps a memory or hdd related. How can I isolate this to discover where its coming from? Are there any tests that I could perform to see if there are any unusual issues with my system? Any advice please?

    My system specs are:
    [1] Area-51® m15x

    Display: 15.4" WideXGA+ 1440 x 900 LCD (720p) with Clearview Technology
Operating System: Genuine Windows® Vista Home Premium - English
    Graphics Processor : 512MB NVidia® GeForce™ Go 8800M GTX
    Processor: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T9300 2.5GHz (6MB Cache 800MHz FSB)
    Memory: 2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SO-DIMM at 667MHz - 2 x 1024MB
Turbo Cache Memory: Intel Turbo Cache Memory 1GB – Accelerate Data Transfer Speed
System Drive: Single Drive Configuration - 200GB 7200 RPM SATA
CD/DVD/RW: 8x Dual Layer Writer (DVD±RW, CD-RW) with LightScribe Technology
Sound Hardware: Intel® High-Definition Audio (24-bit, 192Khz) with surround sound
    Keypad: Alienware® Area-51 m15x AlienFX® Keyboard - English

By the way, I've upgraded Vista with SP1. I have had this problem before SP1. So, I thought this perhaps had something to do with the downclocking issue but since I have installed the latest BIOS (x32) and fixed the DC problem I'm still affected by it!

    Thanks!

It's too vague of a problem to get a helpful response. Contact the Alienware tech support, they should help you out!
