I just got my laptop today, Dell M1710, with the 7900GS video card. I went to www.gamestop.com and did the "Can you Run it" for Battlefield 2 and it says that I have a Direct X 10 video card. How is this possible? I thought all 7 Series cards were DX 9.

They are DirectX 9.0c compatible. The programs must be malfunctioning.

That GPU is NOT DX10 compatible. That site might be testing if DX10 is installed (which is in under Vista alongside of DX9.0C DLLs).

That's just the software version of DirectX that you have (DX10, since you're running Vista). It's basically just saying that DX10 is installed (comes with Vista), but you can't utilize it since you don't have DX10 hardware. Notice above that it says you're using Pixel/Vertex Shader ver. 3.0. If you had a DX10 video card, then it would say you have Pixel/Vertex Shader ver. 4.0.
