M17x r3 ATI 6990m drivers update White screen

Dear Forum members,

I bought a M17x R3 from alienware like a year ago.

Now i wanted to reinstall a new windows.
Windows 7 Ultimate.

Now when i boot i says that my Ati Radeon 6990m drivers are not installed so i go to the website from AMD and download the newest drivers than i says that my grafisch card cant be supported.



Sorry its in Dutch but i says the version of my GFX adapter is not supported, its also says that my computer has incompatible hardware :S.

But oke, than i found this forum post about installing driver sweeper and installing the 12.12 version of the AMD software, it installs but than my screen goes white. I can go around this by going in to hibernate and putting it back on. But my driver is still the old one.

Please can anybody give me tips on how to install my drivers correctly on my M17x R3 6990m 16gig SSD 120g screen



There must be more people with the same problem... Really why is it so hard to update the drivers..

Also When i connect my second screen, and expand my desktop than my Main screen on my laptop goes black you can see there is something happening on the screen but its to black.. On my intel driver it works fine but when i shut that down it goes to this mode no idea what is wrong.
