MBP but why would you want a notebook with the same GPU and just different memory... You could get an ASUS G51J that just came out.. core i7 processor GTX260M , WUXGA screen and altec larsing speakers.. beating anything that Apple or HP has.. an alternative would be sager and clevo systems which cost less than Macbook but have great performace..

yes, the mbp 9600m gt is quite a bit faster because it has higher clocked gpu memory.

there are even faster mobile cards depending on your budget and size/weight/battery life requirements.

the 9600m is quite outdated...it was released sometime in july last year..i believe the gt240m is the approximate equivalent of this gpu...however, between your 2 choices, the mbp 9600m would crush the dv5 9600m...

The GT 220M is a rebadged 9600M GT. The GT 230/240M are superior to both and near the ATI HD 4650/70 in terms of performance. While they're the top of the mainstream cards, none of these hold a candle to any enthusiast card (256-bit GDDR3 or 128-bit GDDR5) in gaming, especially at higher resolutions and detail. If you're serious about a new notebook, consider the FAQ.

I see you already have a dv5t so you know what the 9600M GT's performance is like (not great for the latest games). Going to a GDDR3 version of the card will give you a noticeable performance boost, but ideally you should go for something more powerful. The mentioned Nvidia GT 230/240M and ATI HD 4670 are good choices. If you fill out the FAQ in the What Should I Buy forum, we can help you more.

yeah, you could fill the faq...but one thing i heard though is that the ati4670 gets quite hot..i dont know if this happens when coupled with a slim system or under system load, but the card definitely gets hot...
