Is there a graphics update coming for the MBP? I think its a great laptop overall, but I think it's let down by its mainstream graphics. OR, is it possible to install a better different graphics card in it? Like GTX260/280m? It has 9400m anyway so battery life will stay excellent, and a high-end graphics card will make it a great package.

You won't be able to upgrade the gpu due to the physical constraints causing everything to be soldered on the board.

However, I'm assuming a graphics update will come in June or July after the worldwide developers conference (WWDC).

There isn't any connection. The part isn't replacable, so until Apple redesigns the motherboard in their next refresh (or whenever they do), there won't be another graphics processor in the MBP.

The Nvidia GTX260/280m produces too much heat for the MBP to handle. The Nvidia 9600M GT that the MBP has now is only rated at about 23-25watts. The Nvidia GTX260/280M are rated at about 75watts, about 3 times as much as the 9600M GT. I hope this helps. God Bless :)

I think the MBP will go up to a 9800

Quite possibly a 130m ? Since their iMacs use them and even Mac Pro's

Honestly, I am pretty sure Apple has something up their sleeves for us all such as the iPhone 2, iTablet?, OS X Snow Leopard, iPod Refresh etc...

And quite possibly MB & MBP refresh around Q4 this year

While it is possible for the 17" MBP to have a high end card (256-bit ie. 9800 level card), the 15" MBP won't have anything above 128-bit (ie. 9600 level) due to heat/power consumption restraints.

    And indeed, why should it?!

    MB < MBP 15" < MBP 17"

But I am still sure that Apple will i7 its MBP & upgrade the GPU's

nVidia working with Apple, I am sure they will do something comparable to Intel IGP to nVidia IGP (9400m) but on a high-end level

The most reasonable upgrade (if you can call it one) in the nearest future would be 130M or 4670... the first serious upgrade will be 40nm GPU's. Ati will have their 4830/60 around summer (though thermal budget probably exceeds the limits of the macbooks), and Nvidia won't have anything till at least Q3.

Oh your so funny (funny video by the way, was one of the first to see it :D only a dozen views when it was up)

But you know what? PC burn coming up: Why doesnt the Onion News or any other media bash on microsoft? Because its already riding on the lowest level of the abyss :D

Anybody see the "Laptop Hunters: You Find It You Keep It" frmo Microsoft? LAAAME, why dont they hire a professional agency to handle their ads!? Because theres nothing to advertise! hahaha

The only reason mac is so successful is because they create the laptop AND the OS AND quite a few programs/have their hands in them
So its natural that Microsoft cant push a certain brand/laptop forward etc... asides EVERY PC is cheaperin their ads etc...

NOTE: Mac never mentions anything DIRECTLY related to "PC" vs Microsoft points its fingers at APPLE and MACBOOK directly calling them "Only for aestethic" "Im not cool enough to be a mac person" (thats right by the way, you arent) hahaha
