Now I have been gaming for 31 years and this game has been around for ages pushing the limits of what computers are capable of, and this game deserves a thread of it's own. I took a gander at the videos showcasing the game and yes it looks that good maybe even photorealistic. So to be more reticent check out these videos, absolutely stunning.
The good the bad and the ugly:
The GOOD : If you don't have the cash to buy it but have game pass, yes it's available on game pass
The BAD : NO Vr support of the bat, but it was not the focal point
The UGLY : Requirements are steep min rx 570/gtx 970 (recommended rtx 2080/ssd/32gb ram)
This game will eventually support vr so it's a must buy for me, and if your curious about vr and have 400 kicking around. I highly recommend the Oculus Quest, as it has a resoulltion exactly the same as the valve index as well as OLED displays for great colors and blacks, and although the refreshrate is only 80 vs 144 you will not notice motion sickness unless your gaming for over 4 hours, as I have done 3 hour game sessions and felt perfectly fine and my eyes are sensitive. If you have 1000 kicking around and dont like the idea of wireless vr the valve index is the best of the best granted you have a rtx 2070 or better. Also
DO NOT JUDGE VR WITH YOUTUBE VIDEOS
It is nothing like the videos, they are unable to show the expereince in a manner that would allow you too see it as more than a gimmick.
As for MSFS 2020 this is going to be an exciting day mid august, as we will finally see what the rtx 2080 is capable of and we might even see photo realism granted the videos on youtube are not doctored..

ok I updated the good the bad the ugly and will continue updating it, I really don't see and negatives like nothing...but the learning curve might be steep

Apparently no headtracking also, which kinda sucks. No VR is a non-issue for me personally as I am more interested in tubeliners and the way such jets are flown is not ideal for VR. Though I am interested in bushflying as well, so VR would be the best way to experience it, but as long as I have DCS World, I can enjoy it there.
Will probably grab Standard Edition, which still costs 70 Euros... The rest I will save up on future addons (and that A320 gear), as I have a suspicion that i.e. A320neo won't be as detailed systems wise as Aerosoft A320 for P3D, and far cry from FSLabs A320...
Wonder how long will it be until high quality tubeliners will come out for the 2020? PMDG is already working on their NG, so I guess it will come out sooner than A320 by FSLabs...JRE84 likes this. -

Note I was directing this at a negative comment...MSFS 2020 will be great more likely than not and Although without helicopters will blow minds graphically and in immersion. I am a huge fan of anything related to planes and since I was 4 I have been drawing jets. no hyperboleLast edited: Jul 14, 2020 -

Problem is I am a rotor head. Although Fighter jets and historic WW2 aircraft I also like flying.

I had been trying to get into the Alpha for a while, didn't make it. I've already "installed" it. Since I have gamepass I'll give the standard edition a shot when it launches, If I like it I'll throw in for the other content.

Might give DCS World a try. Or Il-2 BOX, although their planes are not full fidelity.JRE84 and hacktrix2006 like this. -

microsoft said they basically did not intend to do vr but are working on it....what the heck does that mean and will we see true vr for this game.....anyone?
-
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
They didn't intend it originally, but after user feedback, VR support was among the highest requested features, so they acknowledged it. When they will add it is unknown though...

dude, vr or not im super excited for this. I have never seen a photorealistic game in my life and I have a gut feeling this will be the first to trick my eyes.

Interesting bit:
This is basically what MS Flight tried to achieve once and a lot of third party developers opposed that. Now since there is simmarket and others, which takes 30% sales cut, and a lot of 3rd party developers use it (except for the big ones), maybe it will go smoother. And of course seems like MS is handling FS better this time around. -
Wow that's a great roadmap. Yeah, I bet Valve makes pretty good bank on the Train Sim DLC, there's a rabid community of people that are super into those. I can definitely see it getting out of control trying to get a "complete" FS experience from a monetary perspective. But you probably, like the Train Sim stuff, don't need to get everything to enjoy it. Just the stuff you're passionate about having.killkenny1 likes this.

does anyone have details on vr i know it might not be practical but im dying to fly in vr

Simulation games, particularly a flight simulator is a serious disease... And the only cure for the likes of me is to make it as realistic as possible. And usually you can do this with the help of complex addons. Heh, there are people out there who spend 10 or so Euros per month to keep the navbase up to date like IRL...
And yes, you do not need to get everything or as a matter of fact anything. The beauty of this is that everyone can achieve the level of realism they want.
There are a lot of 3rd party planes available for P3D. I had only three tubeliners - 737NG, A320 and Q400. All cost a pretty penny, but with them it was a separate game (inb4 someone comes and shouts "IT'S NOT A GAME, IT'S A SIMULATOR!!!!!!!1!111!!!!!!!!") within a game. You spent months, hundreds of virtual flight hours, countless read pages online and videos watched on Youtube before you got the slightest idea of how to operate those beauties!
I don't oppose this store integration, I kinda even welcome it (though would be a good idea if there will be an alternative store front available). Heh, even now you basically buy majority of stuff on simmarket, with other smaller marketplaces scattered around mostly selling only their stuff.
You have to buy soemthign from PMDG, something from ORBX, other stuff on Aerosoft/Flight1/FSLabs with all their licensing, DRMs, activations, etc. Even separate software have installed to install addons... Gaaaaaaaaaaaah!!! I sometimes almost go crazy during sim re-installs... And you should see my Excel spreadsheet with all the keys and credentials... It's crazy.
So yeah, I welcome this, hope it will bring some needed QoL into the sim.
Now I wonder if there's gonna be a price hike, since MS will take a piece of that pie (though I just hope it will be lower than industry standard 30%), although considering that i.e. simmarket takes 30% I would would expect maybe not. Although I think some devs who are used to sell their stuff on their own store (i.e. PMDG) might add this to the price...
It won't matter though. Diseased people like me will still pay up no matter the cost...
We all know you just got a VR headset and you think it's amazing, but seriously, slowdown and relax a bit

there is no doubt this will be the best looking game to date. vr support is exciting. and the fact I will be able to fly past the pyramids is a plus would be nice to see how big they are in true to life scale.

I've bought pre-paid cards when they've been on sale so I'm paid up through I want to say early 2023. At least 8 months of that was free because of the savings. It'll be even better if the rumors of Microsoft adding XCloud streaming to subscriptions comes to fruition.hfm likes this. -

I sit in my virtual F-18 performing my realistic start up procedures by turning every dial, pushing every switch, and so on as I look about the cockpit and I cant imagine going back to a flat screen with or without head tracking. When it gets VR I'll climb aboard, not before. There is no going back for me.

I just read this Eurogamer story where the author was chasing Isaias, because you can given FS2020's real time data affecting the game environment.

FS2020 is going to be a "game changer" in the respect of merging real-time real world data into a game. It's pretty amazing what this team has done, especially the rather modest system requirements given the visuals. *slow clap*

dude you need a 2080 -
No I don't.
-
LOOOLLL. Go potato mode 4-core with no hyperthreading..
I feel like that 580 would have done a little better if the CPU could feed it. I see a lot of dips to zero utilization, looks like the CPU was having problems feeding the GPU.

oic I thought the recommended system specs were 2080...I meant for the game not you geesh

Is there any sort of "easy" mode for those of us who just want to take in the sights.
-
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
Yes, there should be. -
It would be the first MSFS without a free flight mode and easy settings if it didn't have it. I'd also expect a training flights section which I'd recommend people try; could be they like doing it real world style rather than arcade. Some will probably dislike the structure but it's worth a look for those that haven't tried.

I agree. I would imagine they will have ways of tuning the difficulty from easier for those who just want to fly around up to true sim fan mode for those that want to have to account for every variable.
-
To whom it may concern:
MSFS 2020 is going to be the epic game iv'e waited 10 years to play in PC glory. I cannot wait to see the pyramids and venice as im too poor to visit in real life.
-
I can't actually launch the game yet, but the profile for GeForce Experience optimizing is there.. Here's what it suggests for my 4-core 8-thread 15W CPU (i7 8565U) and 2070. I can usually crank up a little higher than GFE suggests with little impact, but interesting nonetheless.
MSFS 2020 Coming soon August
