Hello all, after upgrading the default GTS 250m, laptop can't start video when is on battery. Everythung is going fine- system boots, sound heard, but no Video on the screen. I know that I must change voltages and/or clocks in the vbios- just I don't know which ones I must change. In NiBiTor I can't find low profile, or battery profile. Can anyone help me ? Thank you in advance.

i know nothing about the 250gts but the 260gtx is quite a powerful card even though 2-3 years old now.
what thermal paste did you use for this new gpu.

what nvidia drivers have you got loaded and how did you load them. as youve changed your graphics card you will need to do a total clean nvidia install in safe mode using driver sweeper (walkthrough in my signature below).

so does the 260 work when you are using mains power?
also how much power does your battery have. you can download battery care in sig below to check this out.

Dear MrDJ, thank you very much for your reply. I use newest driver 302.xxx , my problem is, when starting laptop on baterry, there is no even BIOS message on screen, I just can see backlight on the screen flashing for a 1-2 seconds and after that system is starting Windows but without any picture on screen.

im sorry to say i know nothing about the bios so cant advise on that. hopefully someone else will be along to help out.

the latest official drivers from nvidia are 301.42 > NVIDIA Driver Downloads - Advanced Search
where did you get the 302.*** from?

also what happens when you are using mains power.

yeh i saw them yesterday. they are more for the latest 6** graphics cards and wouldnt make much difference for you using a 260.
i would stick with using the above nvidia link and whql drivers.

I reckon your psu can't handle a power hungry card. gts 250m only was a 28w card and performed very well and was 40nm vs the 260m 55nm 75w card that performs slightly better. Its more of a downgrade technology wise. If you oc you 250m you should get same performance as 260m.

I reckon your power supply won't handle the extra 47w worth of tdp which means the power consumption should rise by similar amount.

its not so much the power supply as much as it is the battery, i think he might have to lower the clocks on battery or something like that to get the power consumption down to something the battery can handle.
