Hey guys, I've been having trouble with certain games with this laptop.
The main game I'm having trouble with now is Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn.
    .

For some weird reason, I'm having some very bad FPS issues with this game. In cities I'm getting around 20 FPS. And in the outside world 50 is the max I get. If that, it's usually 40.

With the laptop I have I should be getting MUCH higher FPS than what I'm getting now.

    I have an MSI GX60,
    CPU: AMD A10-5750M
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7970M/2GB GDDR5
    RAM: 8GB DDRIII
Also worth noting that I have a dual GPU setup. The integrated chip which is the 8650G Radeon HD.
I think FFXIV ARR is only recognizing the integrated chip, because in the config settings under display where it shows which graphics card is being used, it says the 8650G.

I've tried going into catalyst, setting FF into high performance so the 7970 kicks in. I've opened up MSI afterburner after having FF opened up and it seems like the 7970 is being used. So I don't understand. Very confused on what is going on, and I don't know how to fix it. There are certain games that have given me trouble before as well.

I should mention that in the start screen, when you go into config my FPS is at around 300+. So..not sure what's up with that.

I have the latest mobility drivers 13.10 catalyst I believe. I've done everything I could think of to fix it. I've gone into the power settings of the PC and set everything on high performance..but nothing.

Can anyone help me with this problem?

Oh, I ran the benchmark for FF ARR, and it gave me a 7751, extremely high performance rating on high laptop settings.

Well, I know this driver specifically has a fix for ffxiv.

    AMD Catalyst

I see 13.10 should have those fixes and more.

I tried to find benchmarks for the 7970M. How do you know performance should be better? The way it maxed cards, some called it another video card killer like Crysis. Of course this was 2010.

Here are some scores I found for the FFXIV benchmark. http://ff14bench.info/benchmark/gbrank

Your CPU is the problem, not the GPU.

    +1 for CPU bottlenecking.

Thanks, I'll get to installing that right now. By the way, I've noticed that sometimes when I installed my drivers for catalyst windows didn't let certain things install because of the driver signature. Could that also be a problem? I'm going to disable it and re install the drivers + this to see but, always worth asking.

your system is not balanced you got a powerhouse GPU but a complete crap CPU. That CPU is like a 5 year old intel CPU...Even if you manage to OC it wont help much at all because its just slow no matter what u do.
