London drugs has that MSI laptop on sale for 1199.99 cad or 800 USD for you Yanks. It has the 4720 HQ and 965m.

    Few questions

Can I overclock it past 135 with a modded vbios and where do I get the modded vbios.

How are MSI laptops. Audio quality backlit keyboard etc.

And ultimately is 1200 cad a good deal on this laptop would you avoid it or buy it.

I work hard for my money and need to get some advice before pulling the trigger.

GE series is a budget one.. Pascal mobile GPUs should come soon so the Pascal 965M replacement will trash the 965M.. So wait a bit
The 4720HQ is 2 generations behind too..

MSIs have the best keyboards and speakers in the business.

That is the lowest price I've ever seen on that machine, by hundreds. We are in a weird spot right now, with new Nvidia mobile GPUs right on the horizon, so it's hard to say whether you should buy or wait.

I'm torn between newegg Canada's Acer nitro with 2 TB HDD 960m 16gb ram Blu-ray burner for 1059.99 not sure if having Blu-ray and double ram and HDD outweigh 965m and amazing backlit keyboard. Can someone please put in there 2 cents over the laptops.. money is an issue 1199.99 cad is my max

GTX 965M is like 50% faster than the 960M in a lot of games. Nothing outweighs that performance difference.

Take the GE62, because you can't upgrade the GPU later, while you can always add a Blu-ray and more HDD space at a later time.

Buy or wait can be a tricky question.
    • If you wait the next generation will likely see significant improvements.
    • We don´t know when they arrive, could be several months.
    • You probably wont get anything stellar with Pascal or Polaris for 800 USD.
    • This laptop will have outdated technology, on the other hand pretty good performance/$.

Some say no need to wait, there´s always something new on the horizon. However this is the first big jump in technology we´ve had for years, personally I wouldn´t buy anything right now.
Do you actually need one now or can you wait?
