    Hello to all.

I was wondering if someone would be kind enough to help me. My Fujitsu Siemens Amilo XA 1526 laptop (7600M GS) has recently died on me (just after the warranty run out) and i am looking for a replacement. I have given myself a fixed budget of £1000.

As i will be using the video card as the basis for choosing a new laptop, i would like to know the mobile video card required to play Medieval Total War 2 at its highest settings with a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 and around 2000 men if at all possible. I play mostly strategy games rather than first person shooter's, and as MTW2 is the most graphically demanding game i play, choosing a laptop with a video card which is capable of playing the above and then putting any extra money toward a more powerful cpu makes sense.

Eurocoms M860TU and possibly others, allows me to buy a laptop with a GeForce 9800M GT/8800M GTX within my budget. So no video card with the exception of a SLI or 9800M GTX is out of the question.

The recommended system requirements on the box have 128MB Shader 2 support, (desktop) GeForce 7300 or ATI x1600 or greater and googling only seems to turn up pre-game speculation and minimum requirements.

    Thank you in advance.

A 9800m GT should be more than enough to max out the graphical details in the game, be sure to back it up with a decent CPU since rendering several thousand units on screen will be a CPU bottleneck if it's not a decent T7 or T9 series Intel CPU (or the AMD equivalent).

the 9800m GT is overkill. The 9700m GT is quite sufficient for me maxed out (almost anyway) at 1680*1050.

The 9700m GT would be perfect as i'm looking at the ASUS G50v with the 9700m GT and a T9400 2.53GHz.

One can never have too much GPU power, especially since the OP would likely want to play the upcoming Empire Total War and its increased hardware requirements.
