    MW2 MP Name Change

    hey guys

    i have seen people change their name mid-game to switch host, and every time i try it, it waits til after the game to change the name. can anyone help explain how to do it? i pressed shift + tab to bring up the steam overlay, then clicked settings and i changed the name there. but my name in-game stayed the same until i got back to the lobby.

    I believe you add a carrot top and a number in front of it.

    sorry, i wasnt talking about colour. i have seen online where, lets say, "Player" is host, he then changes his name to "Player2" and the game will host migrate to someone else. i'm asking because i dont have a very fast connection and when i do become host, i make everyone lag.

    Not really sure what you're asking still.. If you're looking to change your name, just pull up Steam screen, go to settings, and change your name there.

    sorry, i think i know how to explain it now

    example:
    You are playing Team Death Match, and the host's name is "Anything". as you know,when the host of the game leaves, the game makes someone else the host. half way through the round, "Anything" changes his name to "something" and that causes the game to switch host almost as if "anything" has left the game. however, "Anything" or "something" is still in this game but not as the host.

    my question is, where do i go to be able to change my name so the game switches host to another player? i tried shift + enter, settings, then changed my name there but it i stay as host and my name changes when the round is over.

    I believe that's the only place you can change your username. And you cannot change your name mid-round, so in the example you described the host must have left the game. And a new player must've entered in at the same moment.

    You cant change your name mid game. When it shows someone renamed their name its beause that person left and the new name is the new host.
