MW2 Riot Shield

Anyone have any tactics/tips for riot shield users on MW2?

 

Don't? Other than that stay crouched while using it or you will get shot in the foot.

 

Run towards enemy, then use it to melee.

So funny watching foe stagger to the ground, dead.

 

For anti-shield tactics, stab them with your knife.

At least that works in Counter-Strike.

 

you can't knife the riot shielder.

semtex, or shoot at the feet, frag if it gets behind them, other explosives (noob tube), stun grenade + run around them and get an angle and shoot, or just get run around them and get an angle and shoot.

don't just stand still in front of them, because they are carrying a throwing knife and that is really their only offense, so they are prepared to use it given a chance. if you get trapped in a corner you can get screwed because they can bash you.

oh, you ARE the riot shield user... i would recommend using it only for certain objective games (domination, ctf, hq, to some degree demolition) for narrow maps like favella. you can help your team out a lot by slowing down the other team (it can be hard for them to push past you without first dealing with you) and you have a bit of an edge in taking control points if you back into a corner w/ the riot shield up.

other than that, you don't really have much offense except bashing and the throwing knife, so don't focus on getting kills. you are a value player in the best case, or just running around getting killed for nothing in the worst case. definitely don't use it on team deathmatch, for example.

 

you can knife the riot shield user, as long as you get behind them, so stun them run in behind and stick them with the sharp end of your knife.......i personally love using semtex on them, then running away.... turning around and watching them helplessly try to avoid it.........

 

I've seen a few people actually run straight towards them, jump and knife down at them. It usually worked, or they would miss and then get bashed/killed.

 

Usually when they stick their gun arm out to shoot at you, you can get them in the hand, then they'll kind of be stunned, and then you can shoot them.

Riot shield people are nothing compared to those damn Juggernauts though...

 

You can't use a riot shield and a weapon at the same time. To use a gun, you have to stow your shield on your back.

Anyway, if you have a class with the Riot Shield, I find that the three best perks for it are Marathon (for unlimited sprinting), Lightweight (faster sprinting) and Commando (for longer range of shield bashes). For equipment, I personally use the Blast Shield, just to add my tanking ability. My secondary weapon is usually a Stinger missile launcher to take down enemy airborne threats, including UAV's, helicopters, hovering Harriers, Pave Lows, even Apache gunships and AC-130's.

If you're on the other end of the fight, going against someone who is using the shield, flashbangs are good, stun grenades are better. Use one of these on them, run behind them while they're paralyzed or blinded and knife them in the back.

 

I was talking about attacking the guy who has the riot shield, not when you yourself are using it.

 

semtex em and flash them, those have been effective, or just run away. dont let yourself be distracted cause ive been killed many times by just letting myself be distracted by it.

Use throwing knives with the riot shield, very very effective, many people will just stand and watch, knife em quick.

 

I remember using the riot shield in the Rainbow Six Vegas games. So fun, especially in MP, as people didn't expect it lol.

 

Equip the blast shield, crouch, and be prepared to get in people's face and bash them. It is actually pretty easy to run to the side of a shielded person and knife them, especially if you have the Commando Perk equipped. You either need to hide and surprise people, or play a supporting role. It can be fun if you've got teammates who talk and can coordinate with you.

 

Using it in conjunction with the throwing knife is a really great tactical, people don't tend to move about a lot while shooting the shield, and even if they charge you they'll charge head on at some point, so just whip out the throwing knife = easy kills
