Happy to report that MW2 is very playable on my 8400m GS. The rest of my specs are in the sig. I keep the res at 720/480 (a little low, but at least it's widescreen), everything on low with textures all on extra. Not the best settings, but as you can see the high textures go a long way towards making the game look good. The game runs at between 30 and 60fps, but seems very smooth and playable throughout. The lowest I've seen it go is 15, but that was when the screen was full of dust. Here are a few screens from the first act, more coming as I play more.

That's quite promising. I believe it's the same graphics engine as the first one, so it's not too surprising. I played it on my 8600m GT at the time IIRC at mostly high detail, but at 1280x800.
I guess despite everything, give them credit for a decenty optimized engine. -
Yeah the game plays smooth as well on my 3650
-
Heh, yes, despite everything else. That would really be awful if they couldn't even efficiently recycle the COD4 engine.
-
Yeah my specs it runs pretty well. A LOT better than WaW did even w/ same required specs. So yup!
-
thats a bit too low i reccomnd some OC on there hero card
-
Low settings, yes, but this is a sub 4lb laptop we're talking about. I'm happy to be getting away with this.

im using modded win7 drivers from laptopvideo2go

I made vid of playing of playing MW2 on my laptops HD4570 i was getting like 25 to 40 FPS without FRAPS and no lagsLast edited by a moderator: May 6, 2015 -
Yeah it's well optimized. I have it on high settings with no lag.
-
you can lower the texture resolution to medium, it wouldn't have an effect on visuals as you need high res to notice high res textures anyway.
-
Plays excellent on my 3650 and 230M.
-
Play's bloody well on 9600M GT with 1280X800 with all settings enabled.. runs way better than modern warfare 1 and world at war... no lagg problem.. only complaint... it still stress the GPU as much the other old games...
-
I'm waiting on it until I get my hands on a GPU upgrade (along with playing NFS Shift and/or Assassins Creed 2) but now I'm actually looking into buying this already.
-
is it worth trying it on a laptop with ATI HD4350??
-
I'd say it's worth trying, I'm having a fine experience at the settings I'm playing at. Obviously you wont be maxing anything out, but you'll be playing it at at least the settings and FPS I am.
-
That's the trouble with not having a demo out to try. I wouldn't buy it if you want to play MP, as the framerates I'm getting aren't really smooth or steady enough for MP. For SP though, it's totally fine. Depends on what you're looking for from the game.

This is awesome.......depending on your screen size/res, I wonder how apparent jagged textures, artifacts etc would actually be (prolly not too much?).
Now if only more games could be as well optimized..... -
Well, I'm playing at 720/480 on a 24" 2405fpw and it doesn't bother me. I haven't had a decent gaming rig in over a year though, so my standards are a bit low

thanks for the advice.
gonna try when i get a copy. -
I max the game out ( except shadows and depth of field - witch I simply don't like so I don't mind turning them off ), plus AAx2 - and I play MP
-
Thanks alot for this thread, Pretty much gives me some hope to play the game since I'm gettig some midranged Laptop, or something with a GTX 260 if prices drop below $1k with a decent CPU

Lethal Lottery Notebook Betrayer
I just finished world at war and although I maxed it, there was epic lag at some points during the tank level and the japan levels with a lot of trees. The fps droped as low as 10 but usually stayed in the lower 30's. How well does this run in compriason? (basically I have the 8800M GTS.)

How well do yall think a Dell XPS M1530 would play it with an overclocked 8600m GT DDR3?
