Why was it that Shepard tried to take out the 141?

Clean up after himself and gain...
plausible deniability. -
I still don't get it either, really. Other than him just being a lunatic.
-
My understanding is that he was pissed about the LACK of military involvement from the events in COD4.
So he came up with some crazy plan to get the US all hyped up against another country, so that he could be seen as the "Great military leader" that saves the US from Russia... -
Yeh, I just wanted to know because the SOB totally took my focus away from killing Makrov which I really wanted to do.
Oh well, I guess the survivor was obviously the smarter one. -
I'm just happy an American actually survived
-
I found to the whole plot in general was pretty vague, much more so than COD4.
I agree with what everyone else has already mentioned. -
Well yeah o.o From all the rants he made at the end, it appears that he's mad that the civilians and the government barely gave them any help during the previous war which caused him to lose most of his men. He then decided to go and take out the 141 and gain all the credit for himself so he'll be the war hero and go up in ranks to make it easier for him to implement the rules that he wants within the military...
Pretty much what everyone has mentioned above really -
he heard about the lack of dedicated servers and it put him over the edge
-
I'm thinking it could also be because Captain Prince went against him with the launching of the missile and that plan actually had some merit which made Shepard angry and thought that Prince would take the glory for things going right.

Shepard orchestrated everything.
Giving the Russians access to the defense codes in that device you're sent to recover from an airbase.
Then the Russian invasion of the US was due to an American 141 agent's body left behind in the wake of a terrorist attack in the airport level.
Then, they go looking in Rio for the bullet manufacturer and info on supplier...
Then in the hills in the chalais where you have to recover some data device, shepard gets that device and shoots Ghost(with that bad a$$ face mask) and your character and gets the device.
141 has the only proof of American involvement or lack thereof which started the ball rolling.
I think they should have had a few more levels to bring forward more of the story and fill the "holes." Heard they canned a few levels before release. -
Also, you have the the option to skip the civilian massacre portion. Does it just start you off later in the airport where you're mainly attacking law enforcement? I can't imagine that they would have eliminated that whole level. -
-
they took levels out so that they can repackage them as dlc.
MW2 spoilers...Shepard's motive?
