There would be quite a bit to destroy and you'd be a sitting duck if you sat there in maps just shooting down buildings.

But yes, there are a few maps where I have seen the entire place get absolutely decimated. It's AWESOME!

I do like that buildings can get destroyed. And maps don't usually last long enough that if everything did get destroyed it wouldn't be until near the end of the round anyhow. I'm still learning, slowly, though. Coming from BF2, it's hard to adjust. I hate that I don't have a comms menu though. Drives me nuts.

99.8% of snipers in BC2 are useless. Don't think you are the exception.

That's in every FPS game ever created. All the 13 year olds love to be "teh l33t l0ne soldier sup3r snipa killa c0p"!

But seriously as much as MW2 wants to be realistic its an arcade shooter. BC2 finds a good balance between.

I would love to see a vid of BC2 modded with unlimited C4 and see if you can destroy an entire city with one click

(sorry, I know this is off topic but there are just sooo many BFBC2 threads already...)

    So the destructible environments...

I like the idea a lot, its more realistic, but perhaps a bit over done?

Meaning it would have been best to have a mix of some areas that can be destroyed and some that are "hard enough" to not break.

I mean just thinking back to my BF2 and BF2142 days how bad those games would suck if you could not be waging war on the roof top of the TV station, or from inside the main terrorist building.

In 2142 you would be sniping people from the vents as they came into your mothership to destroy your core.

These games would have been bland and boring without the environment offering places to fight/camp/hide, if you could just blow them all up instead of these awesome city battles taking place everybody would just be in a massive FFA in the streets dancing around the rubble.

Well people are probably overdoing it, especially since this is probably the first game that has everything destructible. In real life, no one would destroy everything when fighting in a war.

what i like about the destructible maps, is it changes the game play as you are playing, i got taken out and decided it was time to get some pay back, but because in the time it took me to spawn, the buildings around that area had been hit with mortar and tank fire, i couldnt find the building i was looking for and eventually walked into enemy fire..........bottom line don't revenge kill ;)

The completely destructible environments seem to be somewhat of a problem in Rush mode. A lot of times now the attackers will just pound the buildings housing the MCOM stations and those surrounding it leaving little to no cover for the defenders making it quite easy to blow the MCOM up.

Honestly, this destruction is so realistic and perfect, I think once you see it and experience the game play with it, there is no way not to love it.

There are things that cannot be destroyed, all terrain items like rocks and some foundations of buildings will remain intact no matter what you toss at them. Also, when a building gets destroyed, some of them have quite a bit of rubble you can still use as cover.

Having buildings not be a permanent source of protection also forces people to use better strategies then sitting in one safe place and cherry picking. If you sit in a building too long shooting people, you won't have long before a tank and a few RPG's level the building you're in (destroying a building collapses it and kills anyone inside).

Honestly, the destructible environment is my favorite thing about this game. It is so realistic and I love to blow stuff up! Also, putting a few tank shots in the side of a flimsy building you know a sniper is hiding in is kinda fun.

It's not realistic at all. A grenade doesn't level an entire concrete wall like it does in this game. Realism is far from it. Even a barrage by a tank doesn't level buildings like grenades do in this game.

I've yet to unlock the hand grenades that decimate buildings, which level does that unlock?

i also haven't experienced that with hand grenades, yes it shatters windows and may damage an already damaged wall, but ive ever had one take out the wall of a house on its own.......
