Call of Duty: MW3 sales top $775 million in five days - News at GameSpot
Best selling COD game so far in the series for a debut opening.
EA must be so jealous. Activision spends no time in development, creativity or anything, just remake MW2 and smash all previous records for opening week sales.
-
I for one bought MW3 and loved it so far. Totally stopped playing it ever since Skyrim came out and ate my spare time WHOLE
-
nice. i think it has to do alot with how they reworked, or refined, the multiplayer experience.
-
I think it has more to do with how much they hyped it. "Most anticipated launch in history"? Haha, yeah right. The numbers are impressive, but I'm far more impressed with Skyrim's debut. I for one will be waiting to see what the sales look like AFTER the initial launch
-
Hype... Game is almost the same as mw2 with limited perk options and no nukes. I am happy to say, my 60 is not a part of the 775 million.
BF3 = Greater Than -
It's so boring. I did a couple rounds yesterday and it was just the same old crap, complete with some jackass aimbotting.
-
Call of Duty's MP part is Quake 3 for the Xb0x 360 kiddies. (No offence meant.)
But its just a matter of time before CoD ends up like Guitar Hero. -
You mean it hasn't already reached that point. Watching Total Biscuit's review of MW3 right now and loling.
-
I enjoyed MW3 SP campaign much better than BF3.
-
Well to be fair that is like saying you enjoyed eating a 2 day old sandwich more than eating a 3 day old sandwich.... neither will make you sick, but neither of them is fresh.
-
I want better maps....
-
+Rep for that just cause I lol'd. Nice analogy.

I wonder what was the sale for BF3?
-
two whole different games, BUT... for better or worse BF3 DOES feel different than BF2, while MW3 should be call "MW2 patch 1.0000000000000001"
just saying...
Also: DirectX 11 called... he said MW3 never showed up at his office -
i plan to buy it soon, i bought all the cod games despite only playing them for less than 20hours each lol.
-
Very true...

fixed

HE SAID BF3, AS IN BATTLEFIELD 3
DONT U GO AND ALTER PEOPLE'S POSTS PLEASE.
MW NOOB -
404error: battlefield 3 not found
-
He's just trolling but then the BF3 player may be also. Don't let it become another BF3 vs MW3 thread, plenty of those.
-
if u didn't know, the CoD developers are some greedy bastages! they will soon release DLC map packs...and we will all buy them...
-
Not trolling. I couldn't care less what others play. I only know what I am going to pay for. Im not paying for running in circles with knives and kids screaming in my ears from the top of their caffeine induced high. BF3 is not a corridor shooter with huge MP maps.
-
one of the difference between mw3 and bf3 is the hardware taxing.
i have some friends who actually prefer mw3 because it is more playable in their rig (about medium to high settings) but in bf3 they have medium settings only.
gameplay wise, i prefer bf3, content wise SP, mw3. my opinion only
-
Its not "battlecorridor 3," its "tunnelfield 3." Get your names straight!
-
Lol... It's all peer pressure siding with Activision.
-
and considering this "names" probably come from the tiny-itsy-bitsy-maps cod players.
one thing i learning is: Hater gonna Hate... -
The problem with MW3 (and frankly BF3) is that you get everything the game will ever be within a week of owning it.
Its always fun to blow stuff up, but it also grows old fast.
The game is designed to be played through in a week and forgotten. -
Very definition of console game.
-
Kinda offtopic but i been having a blast playing Goldeneye 007 on Xbox 360.
Nearly forgot how awesome 4 player split screen can be with friends. xD
Sadly Activision did not port it for PC. -
100s(possibly 1k) of hours in BF2 and I still don't have all the guns unlocked
-
But no matter what weapon you are holding you still go "Bang. Bang. You're dead."
Almost all FPS's have a really short single player campaign. That doesn't really matter though, because most of us play for the multiplayer. IMO at least that is where the fun is in FPS's. I might spend 12hrs going thru the campaign once, but will easily spend a couple hundred hours on multiplayer. -
not in BF2...
the only guns I know of that will kill in 2 hits are the 50cal and sniper rifles...
Its more of a Bang Bang...BangBangBang...Diealready...BangBangBang......Bang
-
And that's why I used the auto-shotty in BC2. 1-3 hits depending on range, and if they're too far away I call in mortars.
-
Yea, I can't wait for those (one of the reasons I went Hardened)...so far Outpost is my fav. Resistance, Lockdown, HardHat, Baakara and Downturn are 'Ok'.
LOL @ kids screaming in my ears.....
-
if you take multiplayer it will be longer.
and MP is the ONLY reason i buy fps games. -

Modern Warfare 3 is the first game i actually bought full retail copy and i was rather disappointed. I'm not comparing it to Battlefield 3.
I initially thought i would be more hooked on to it. Now i can only play perhaps 2 hours max before i get bored. Surprisingly I'm finding Team Fortress 2 much more fun and addicting than Modern Warfare 3. My wallet feels sad
-
Could not agree more.
It is quite sad that they will kill this franchise doing this. Another entry every year for an extremely short campaign and new maps?

Hey, I like shooters as much as the next guy... but most multiplayer is a waste of time... When I can get a bunch of buddies together to frag away... its a blast.. when I am just shooting fish in a barrel or being repeatedly killed by cheats it gets old fast. Unfortunately, the bad is the norm and the good games are an extreme rarity.
However, let's be really honest... games like GF3 or MW3 aren't about accurate modelling, fair gameplay, or longterm players... its about big explosions and pretty.
Truthfully, TF2 is just as much fun as either BF3 or MW3, and its better balanced, and free. (community is better too)
TF2 is a great game... BF3 and MW3 are mediocre at best.
(I have to admit I favor BF3, but I think its mostly because I want the MW (and BF) series to actually evolve into more than just stupid and pretty. -
i totally agree with you, evolution and improvement are the main problems of a franchise, especially in cod's case, whereas its getting old already. in modern age they always go with the 'bang' factor which makes you shoot-the-barrel-boom unquote, imho the franchise that never bored me so much as i play are assassin's creed series (i know its a different genre but you get the picture
)
and don't allow cheats on MP, that's a sin
we have handicaps in our clan so its much more gameplay immersive but not going to boring/compliance/screw-it-next-game mode.
-
While I agree with you in concept, Assassin's Creed is really not my type of game.
I always felt like I could hear the Mario music in the background and the old mario jump noises with every leap and the fireball "spitting" with every attack while playing AC.

killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
I'm also one of those people whose money aren't in that trash bin. COD1 was good, everything after was garbage except MW1, it was alright, but the SP gameplay is boring (shooting 1k of respawning dummies is no fun) as for multiplayer, I stick to TF2, SWAT4, RO (gonna grab RO2 when I'm gonna be at the right place). I know they are all different games, but it doesn't matter, since they are all more fun and the servers aren't empty 1 year after game has been released. Also SP story feels like it was written by blind, stoned Tom Clancy wannabee monkeys.
COD is like a cos(x) function, there x=(-6,3)... -
MahmoudDewy Gaming Laptops Master Race!
Salute Sir !!!! CoD 1 & its expansion packs were legendary ... it is by far my favorite SP FPS ... even in MP it was heaps fun ... everything after that is redundant crap ... IMO -
just played the first 3 stages of mw3. i didn't realized how different the graphics is compared to its predecessor. the graphics is more detailed, but less sharp. im having a stiff graphic comparison between mw2 and mw3.
as expected. mw3 is predictable. -
MW3 uses MW1 engine since it seems Activision does not own MW2 engine. My suspicion since they used MW1 modified engine for Blops as well.
