I have heard a lot of people saying the multiplayer is hacked pretty badly. Is that true?
-
Not that ive seen. There is alot of accusing but some people just get mad over dying thats all. BF3 is really bad now i see people getting kicked every 3 games for aimbot or md5(what ever that is). Mw3 is fine for me for now.
-
YMMV. -
I got destroyed on the first pc match despite being lvl 65 on ps3 but quickly got back in the game afterward. So nope, doesnt happen to me. Also make sure your connection is stable too.

On PC, I encounter more hackers on BF3 than MW3. I really wouldn't worry about it, but there are more skillful players.
-
So its not really a huge deal? I mean... the game is still fun right?
-
If you like the multiplayer in the other COD games, I expect you'll enjoy MW3 just fine. -
-
MW3 has been hacked already. And I imagine it'll keep getting worse. Thats what happened in MW2.
I actually hacked in MW2 as well. I met a hacker, and asked him to give me a copy of his hacks. And he sent it to me over email. -

Hack? It happens all the time~

Thats too bad man. I really hate hacking in ranked play. Ruins the game. Just like Halo 2

Steam's anti-cheat protection isn't perfect and it's not instant-ban if detection occurs, either. If you end up in a game of MW3 with a cheater, your only recourse is to leave the server, because he probably isn't going anywhere any time soon. You have the option to join a dedicated server with admins, but those games are not ranked.
In BF3, the cheat protection is similar but not the same. Old hacks will result in instant bans. New hacks take some time to detect and then a ban-wave is issued at some point and they try to ban as many hacking accounts as possible. The big difference is that dedicated servers are ranked in BF3, so you'll often have admins available which can ban players (from their server), and some servers have a votekick feature available as well. -

VAC is an excellent system. I'd rather have VAC than Punkbuster's manual updating, client-side software, kicking me for having the wrong graphics driver version or any on-screen overlays. To be completely fair, you have to compare apples to apples: VAC and admin-enforced games vs. Punkbuster and admin-enforced games, not VAC-only vs. PB + admins. I almost never run into cheaters in TF2 or Counter-Strike, both of which use VAC.
MW3 is fun, and I have not had much of an issue with cheating. Of course there are cheaters; I challenge anyone here to find me a multiplayer game that has none. But the vast majority of matches I've played have been clean. Cheaters are extremely obvious, and you'll know in a matter of minutes whether you should just leave the lobby and find another one.
The main issue with MW3 is that VAC bans happen on a slight delay, and combined with the game's lack of live admins in lobbies, means that there is a window of opportunity for cheaters. But like I say, it's definitely a small minority of games, and it does not ruin the experience for me.
tl;dr - VAC is a good system, and MW3 is fun. You will run into cheaters, just like in any other game, but not too frequently. -
MW3 Cheating??? Nah.... NO WAY!!! NEVER!!!!

In MW3 the cheaters primarly play ground war
-
That's what I've noticed as well. I spend the majority of my time playing Search & Destroy, and I don't think I've ever seen a cheater in those lobbies. I also play TDM, Team Defender and Kill Confirmed pretty frequently. I've seen a few obvious cheats in those, but usually not even one per day.
-
I only play ground war and I run into 1 out of 20 games that has a hacker in it. They usually leave after a couple of games - but do ruin the game experience for that time period.
-
How would you know their cheating/hacking?

How can people cheat on steam?
I had MW2 and I hacked my level to get all the weapons/equipments, next thing I know, I was permanently banned from MW2 multiplayer. -
Well I have seen quite a few hackers in mw3, that combined with no dedicated servers makes the mp pretty un fun. Is get mw1 if you don't have that still has lots of players and it's pretty much the same game my 2c
