I'm buying an Asus g53sw-a1 for Black Friday or Cyber Monday. I will be playing Skyrim, and possibly BF3 or MW3. I would like to try them both, but I only have the money for one. As far as shooters are concerned, I'm a big fan of Halo, Quake and RainbowSix. Which game do you think would be more fun for me based on those preferences? I don't really care too much about having the most amazing graphics ever. I just want a game with a decent campaign and fun mutliplayer. What would you guys recommend? Thanks in advance.

Modern Warfare3 sounds like it would suit you. It is actually pretty fun and dedicated servers should be popping up more and more after players rank-up.

That said I don't believe BF3 or MW3 will have much of a large community in a year or so.

You'll be able to run every game on high (1080p) except for battlefield 3.

IMO, it's not as enjoyable if you can't play it in max settings. My laptop has similar specs as yours but medium settings didn't cut it for me.

MW3 will run better on the 460m than BF3 will. Bf3 has vehicles and large maps and is more halo'ish. MW3 has faster action with quick re-spawning and little strategy. BF3 has fewer kills per round and more method to the play style due to the large maps.

Have you ever played Halo? The large maps, jeeps, tanks, and aircraft, it is similar, but you can disagree all you want.

those games op lists are pretty different from each other lol.

but if you like quake you should like mw3.

i have all the bf games but i only find them fun at lans or playing with friends online. cod i mostly play solo because its more balance and skill dependent where as in bf you just get bazookaed or motared like no tomorrow.

APART from the vehicles, gun play in Halo is nothing like BF3. The only similarity is that. The maps are no where near as big as BF either.

Don't get how you can compare them. They are nothing alike.

That's a shame man. I would definitely play that over both BF3 and MW3 lol. But that's just because I'm a big Halo fan.

Personally, I have to give the nod to BF3 overall... (not considering hardware)

While I felt both were "less-than-they-could-have-been" I like the slight(yes slight) edge on strategy and intelligent combat in BF3 over the more "arcade-like" shoot-like-a-maniac-/faceroll-and-win of the MW series.

Both are a tad too simplistic for me personally, but at least BF3 tried to cater a little to those who like a little skill to go with their pretty explosions.

To be fair, I really prefer the old Rainbow-Six style where you plan your assault and work hard to not present a target as being shot usually = death.
(you know, closer to simulation than arcade)

Don't get me wrong.. both can be fun... and neither is a horrible game.
Neither is a great game either though.
    (TF2 is a great game)
