    Try this

    http://goods.ruten.com.tw/item/show?11090922513756

    or this

    http://goods.ruten.com.tw/item/show?11090922512856

If either methods don't work, type 4650 1GB into the search engine and keep going till you see it.

Looks like minimum shipping NT$50. Not sure if they ship internationally. You can pick up in person as well. Delivery (by them in person presumably) is NT$120 minimum. 10 in stock.

    Important note:

    THIS IS PRE-ORDER

Scheduled ship date is Jan 20-25.

What notebooks will this work in and what sort of performance would this be compared to the GTX260M / GTX280M?

Anything that support the MXM 2.1 format. It isn't anywhere close to the card you mentioned. It is around the level of a 9800m GS.

The HD 4670 scores around 7600 3dmarks06, the GTX260m scores around 9800+(it really depends on the cpu cuz its a cpu hog) 3dmarks06.

    That or
    10% weaker than a 9800GS.

    Holy crap.

Looks like I may have jumped the gun on the 4650 upgrade, although I'm holding out to see if this is legit...

MXM 2.1 II eh? ...I wonder which manufacturer these originated from.

The barrier language is pretty daunting. How exactly does the website work? I didn't see anything about the payment methods. Google translate is garbage. :(

It's almost like a Taiwanese version of Ebay.

As far as I can tell, payment methods involve something about ATMs.

Edit: After some asking around, payment can also be done via the Taiwanese post office and bank transfers, not that that helps. lol

    Why go through that headache?
No guarantees its compatible, no guarantees it works, and if it fails no guarantees about getting refunded.

Say what are the refund policies?

yea it sounds like a sweet deal... Is this retailer legit? what are the reviews?
none of that can be easily accessed if you don't speak the language.

Whose the manufacturer of that card? I thought MSI was the only one who made those and the MSI card is green.

Looks like the card is sold from a website that allows suppliers to privately sell products like an on line bazaar.

From the parent website you can order a "Ford Telescopic Shock", "online fortunes" to sesame noodles. (according to google)
It looks like a Taiwanese Ebay of some sorts.

I don't think Id order from there, unless I needed a "Ford Telescopic Shock" or my fortune told.

From the looks of the card it could possibly be MSI, its hard to tell as its not in English, maybe MSI made red cards? Taiwan does manufacture allot of hardware and products. It could also be made by a third party company unknown to the western world.

Umm first of all, if what you are implying is that the card is of low quality; most GPU's come from taiwan, and second, Taiwan isn't a manufacturer...its a country...I was asking MSI/Acer/Asus etc.

Also, I ordered my 4650 MXM module from germany...I speak no german...it went well, you cant avoid taking risks when modding your notebook.

any chance to save this thread? i too was interested in the title but not the slanging match.
it does sound very risky though. anyone confirm if these cards actually exist. i bought my card (in sig) as a 9600 GT off ebay. maybe the card is not what it says. will get my wife to translate a bit more later (she and the site are chinese)

Sorry classic77 I misread your post, I thought you asked where the manufactures originate from, and yea this card being a no-name at this point could also be of low quality. I don't trust ordering products from China or Taiwan especially from a website that also sells online fortune telling, I am not sure how credible this site is. If your so certain its the holy grail of deal, order it and tells us if it works for you.

That's probably best, also if possible check if he has a refund policy for defective products, if you can get the site translated in person even better, just make sure this guy is credible.

I just typed in the code on the memory of that card from the asian site into google and got this:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/Qimonda-GDDR3-V...temQQimsxZ20091208?IMSfp=TL091208192008r20295

If we can trust that seller than it really is a version with DDR3 memory. I didnt even know that you can buy DDR3 VRAM just like that on ebay... one could just upgrade a HD 4650 DDR2 with that memory, although the chance to mess up the card is pretty high I think. Could be how they did it though... since so far only MSI laptops have the HD 4670 MXM 2.1 II and those cards are green, like EchoShade said.

GDDR2 has different PGA and its will cost you another 1/2 a card to solder them if you thing it will work.

go online and check pin configuration if they are the same they will work.

The seller's feedback is positive, incidentally. Mix of cheap and pricier items.

Oldest feedback is from 2007 April, most recent was from 2009 November.

My guess is that the seller is attempting to be honest, but may not be entirely informed.

There is also the problem of the memory controller... This is a dead end.

BTW: It's the guy from which I got my hd3650, I would definitely trust him.

good luck to change DDR2 memory as soldering step is a FBGA process really hard to do by hand

Dudes, my argument was mainly that the memory you can see on the card in the picture of that side is in fact DDR3 memory. If one assumes that the picture of that card is in fact a picture of the same kind of card he is selling and not just a factory picture, then it really is a HD4650/70 version with DDR3, which would be great news.
