Well, we have read about the MXM and Axiom technology, but which computers actually have these technologies?

Is there a list of laptops with either of the technologies?

Can we keep a list here on laptop review?

    Which technology is better?

Which technology has a better upgrade path?

for sure i know, Fujitsu Siemens Amilo M 3438G/4438G and AW M5700 use the same chesis which comes with go 6800 MXM III.

Is the go 6800 gpus comes with i9300 also MXM III? not sure

the only Axiom card i have seen so far is Chazmans' Sager NP-5320 which has Radeon X700.

I don't think that Dell's notebooks are MXM compatible. Their GPU's are specific to the notebook.

    Here's a short list:

    MXM notebooks -
    -Asus Z81SP
    -Quanta MW1 + KN1
    -Clevo M570A [pretty sure]

Yeah, onick is right - the Sager 5320 [Clevo M560A] is the only AXIOM notebook being sold. It's a very rare technology.

I'll look up some more stuff later, those are some off the top of my head. ;)

According to snippets from an interview with Toshiyuki Okumura from ATI in Rahul Sood's (VoodooPC president) blog, AXIOM and MXM are not mutually exclusive:

Excellent, excellent. Thanks a lot for posting that lazybum - really helpful, much appreciated. :)

I found the interview to be very informative - especially with the AXIOM as quoted. Gives me hope that I can upgrade. :) X1600, here I come. .

    Hello guys,

I'm setting up a site about MXM. It's still very much 'under construction', but there's a small list of MXM laptops. I hope to offer MXM upgrades in the near future. I'm aware this is bordering advertising, but as it is on topic I hope it's Ok? Or at least I'm honnest! :)

Anyways, I'm not selling anything at the moment, but any feedback, addtional info or remarks are more then welcome!

    MXM-Upgrade

    Regards,

    Ice-tea

Agreed. According to the LaptopLogic article on upgrading the Dell Precision M70, Dell uses a proprietary module that's a cross between AXIOM and MXM. LaptopLogicLink

    Hello guys,

As you may know, I'm starting up a MXM bussiness. After some serious problems, I now have a source for x700 MXM's.

    More info soon!
