I have a z81sp that has 6800 go that is MXM type III. I found a site that says that they sell x1800 MXMIII cards. I called my reseller to see if I could get the card and then send it in with my computer to be upgraded (I heard that even MXM cards require soldering and some wire work). He said that he was pretty sure that the upgrade wouldn't do anything. Does anybody know why this wouldn't work or if my reseller was wrong??? Go to the link below to see an overview of a succesful x1800 upgrade.

He didn't say it wouldn't work, if what you stated was correct. He was probably saying that you won't notice a big increase in performance (it won't do anything). You will notice some in newer games that use the features of the X1800, but don't expect things to just blow you away in comparison, especially in older games. You may even get slower performance in some OpenGL based games like Quake and Doom.

The x1800 is a strong card, but so is the 6800. It's probably not worth it to upgrade. Besides, if you did upgrade, the P4 might be a bottleneck under extremely demanding games unless it's a late model with HT.

What does he mean wont see a difference? The x1800 is stronger than a 6800.

I agree with Twilight here. I do not believe the P4 630 HT will be the bottleneck. You will really see a big difference between the 6800Go and X1800.
