Hi all, hopefully this is in the right place. My laptop (Acer 5920G) has recently stopped working as my Nvidia graphics card is bust. The laptops a few years old so I'm not really looking to upgrade the graphics card more a case of just finding one which will fit so I can get a bit more usage out of the laptop and take off any documents currently stored on there.

Finding a graphics card to fit the mxm-ii slot seems an impossible job, it doesn't appear that anyone who have previously made these cards still sell them and there are only a handful available on some sites like ebay, where i'd rather not buy from unless it was last resort. Does anyone know what cards I should be looking for or where I might be able to find any?

I'm pretty sure it's the 8600m, I think that's what come with the computer I'm not entirely sure. The square card lifts out which is what I'm led to believe I can change. Is it possibly to take the whole unit out and fit another one then? Those cards/ boards seem impossible to find in shops. Like I say not after anything spectacular just something that will let the laptop work again.

It never fits in that case. Nearly twice the size and the power consumption of the original card. 8600m gt, 8400m gs, hd3470, hd3650 will fit.

I just want to check is it just a card I am looking to buy or will one of the whole pieces with the outputs on the end fit as well. The pieces with outputs look fairly easy to buy but I've no idea if these will fit. Thanks.

Be advised that you'll need to flash a custom BIOS in order to run the 9600M GT.

Nearly every nVidia MXM III card will fit. 9x00 series, GTX series, even Quadro cards. Best bet is the GTX260/280. I don't know what about amd cards.
