I'm in the market for a new laptop, regardless of what Best Buy does with mine. It's under warranty, the fans went out and the inards are heating up like a *****. If they replace it, I'll probably just sell it depending on what they give me, because I know they won't give me a 2000 dollar laptop when that's what I paid for mine originally. And if they do fix it, than I'll just give it to my sister or my dad.

Anyways, for me, I've been looking around. I now own a mac mini that runs my media center on my hdtv using Media Central as a front end. Even when I get out of Media Central and use the mini for occasional web surfing or checking email, I really like the feel of OSX versus XP. That being said, I'll be using my lappy for an occasional game, but nowadays the games I like to play on the computer, as I have a 360, usually come out universal binary, or at least make it to OSX eventually. However, there will be an occasional game that I'll boot up through boot camp, and use boot camp in order to access something that I'll need for school. For the most part though, the Macbook Pro should work well for me. On top of that, being a student I'll get 200 off, and a free iPod Nano with my purchase. I'm looking at the 2.13ghz model with 2gb ram. The reason I'm going with the 2.13 is because the video card increases from 128mb to 256mb.

What do all of you think about the MBP, or should I stray from Apple and continue with a Windows Lappy. Also, the MBP just looks kick arse.

If you do buy one upgrade the ram yourself they charge way to much for it. I recommend crucial or corsair. Gaming should be fine on the system for the games it will play however keep in mind a similar windows machine running xp will outperform a mac. Also keep in mind the issues they've had: paint chipping/discoloring lots of heating issues and occasional battery issues. A similar windows machine would be cheaper (asus, dell)
