My wife has this Macbook, last revision. Does anyone have experience running any of the source games on this? Are they playable?

    Thanks.

LOL. Yeah I've been using this one for years now. It's mostly my alias when I'm playing FPS's; however I'm finding a lot more server admins who are sensitive about it.

Just to clear up my question - I will be running XP on boot camp. So although it's a Mac, it will be used in Windows. I'm just wondering if the x3100 can handle any source games.

DOD:S runs on the new HL2 engine while CSS runs on the old one.. you will experience more FPS in CSS than DOD:S.

But i have no idea what hardware is in the macbook :) so i guess your only option is to try it out.

Wow, I don't even know how to say it not to insult you, but it would seem that you're lazy, can't read and posting lies.

Now both games run on the same engine that HL2 does, that is Source (CSS is short for Counter Strike: Source).

X3100 is obviously not the greatest GPU, but if you install the latest Intel drivers, they improve performance a lot.

If you can deal with playing in low-res (800x600), low details, you can get playable frame rates from both games.

In fact Intel claims, that you can now even play Far Cry 1 on integrated GPUs.

However, I don't think you'll be able to get playable FPS at native resolution.

i think he means that DOD:S runs on the orange box engine wich is still the source engine but with some improvements.
