I can't believe it. I didn't even know this game was in development. The first Mafia game was simply amazing. Okay, maybe the graphics weren't top notch and the gameplay could have been better....but the game was still so much fun. That's saying something. Check out this slideshow!

Fantastic!! I'll have to tell my fiance.. she got me through the baseball bat only bit in the alleyways with Paulie on sheer adrenline!! and the bit in the mansion garden where you're trying to break into the house with the safe cracker.. she wasn't so good at the rest of the game where it was more driving etc but as soon as the tension increased her adrenline fueled reaction times were better than mine!

I still remember clearly her beating all my mates at Wipeout 2097, at a games night we used to have every tuesday night, after a bit of sneaky practicing.. the look on their faces was priceless. aaah the good old days lol..

Going back to Mafia, I hope they include more Quintette du Hot Club de France/Django Reinhardt in the soundtrack..

*edit... those screenshots look stunning! you can see high res shots at http://www.2kgames.com/mafia2/home.html

It is like GTA in a way..
I replayed it quite recently and really enjoyed it even with it looking quite dated now from a graphics perspective. I'd recommend it to anyone. After you finish the main game there's still quite a lot you can do in Free Roam.

OMG! This is great news! I loved Mafia. It was one of those games that deserved a lot more attention than it got. Story was awesome, graphics were better than GTA's graphics. After a letdown with EA's Godfather, I am so glad Mafia came back.

No, Mafia's similarities to GTA are very limited. Yes, you are allowed to steal many cars (if you have been taught how) and you can kill whoever you want on the street, but...the game's storyline and essence was very unique.

I remember that one mission....you know the one....with the race car....I won that mission on accident. I found a short cut of sorts....

I believe that part of the game is the only part that sucked. Prior to playing the game, I had read that the race was very difficult...but I did it on my first try. I thought it was really....bad. :D Oh well, not meant to be a racing game and it was towards the beginning of the game, too.

I hope the new game looks and plays as good as the screenshots. Putting your back to the wall, with a Tommy Gun, in that suit....is BALLLLLIN

I absolutely loved that in Mafia the cops would chase you if you sped or ran a red light, very few mafia or gangster type games have that level of detail. I will definitely be picking Mafia 2 up.
