PhysX on high? If so just go to the folder in Mafia II called Cloth and remove all but the main characters. For whatever reason all the women's dresses are PhysX enabled in game and kills performance for something barely noticeable.

Did you get the demo from steam? Anyway I'm here on Steam and the demo says on the bottom of Other Requirements

Initial installation requires one-time internet connection for Steam authentication; software installations required (included with the game)include nVidia PhysX_drivers 10.04.02_9.10.0522and nVidia GPU drivers 197.13 or latest, Steam Client and Microsoft DirectX.

could it be that the demo somehow changed your video drivers? I'm not sure...

I think this is a pretty well known thing, Im not sure about it though but people have said that the Mafia 2 demo runs slow on most things for some reason. It worked damn slow on my toshiba until I got the actual game.

Maybe its just the coding im not sure, I can guess you can google it.

Thats the answer i wanted, i hoped the demo was badly coded and the actually game was better.

One more thing, the benchmark says i have my cores running at only 1.73, i thought this cpu would oc automatic

They don't OC. They just switch to 2 core or 1 core to increase frequencies if needed.

    i.e. 1.73 at 4 cores, 2.5 at 2 cores and 2.9 at 1 core.
