Yeah....Seems like they wanted to release the game early, get money off it, then get money off the DLC.

They were thinking wrong, not even going to buy this game now.

It looks like this is the case since some one has unlocked a chapter load mode, free roam and some users report being able to play as the Jimmy character with a broken chase mission appearing during free mode. It looks like a lot of the content is already there.

Apparentlyone of the developers left and formed a petition to release the "full" game because of how much content got cut from the original game

    Nerd Rage

Holy crap, so many things were cut during development it's not even funny any more:

HUD icons from the game, notice all the melee weapon icons
    [IMG]

Before chapter 1, there were some 8 missions planned:

    Even a map for it:

Here are some more stuff that were taken out:

    Haha, WOW!

    That's insane!

This makes me so sad, but SO ticked off at the same time. With all of the stuff they had planned and left out, this game would of been SO much more fun.

What a freaking waste.

I really cant understand the developers when they continue a game franchise.

I hate E.g Ubi soft for ruining PoP, splinter cell and other games. They had lots of things from Warrior Within and they started to make cartoon look like game and they even removed those wild old moves from the game. i Really cant understand why they wont use the old code for something that is not noticed and something that thy shouldn't be afraid.

The same thing is here but i wont talk more because i have a lot to.

Ditto. Haven't played it yet, but I actually prefer games without the wide open world and more of a linear plot (ala HL2). GTA actually somewhat bores me. Go do this or go do that or that or that. Yea, it's cool to run around and do what you want, but I lose interest quickly if not being lead along I guess. I just start running around and doing whatever without any real purpose. Also love the setting. Looking forward to the game.

You forgot to mention something else but don't look unless you have completed the entire game:

Many loved the realistic Prison simulation in the game but a Mod user says they have found they can load a prison riot chapter although it is broken, it shows another thing that was cut out too. I guess why would anyone want to take part in a boring prison riot that only adds to the realism of the entire chapter

Mafia 2 is the best game of 2010 that was never released.

what was good about Mafia 1 is that u were living like a mafia guy, i really got into it to the point i felt like that city is mine i know every street every slum and every shortcut that was good about it..they made u feel the character although i haaaate GTA since the day it has been made..but Mafia in my opinion is completely different. Mafia 1 was soo long it fr exceeded 100 missions, i think it was 112 or so

Dont know about Mafia 2 yet.. my system wont run it :(

Rumors say the game initially had 130 chapters, and it was released in 15 chapters only. You guys can google it, it says right on the 2k forums where people complain about it. I've been robbed.

Mafia 1 was hell one long game. it took you ages to finish it the chapters ware long too and there ware more.
You even had a F1 race to do back at 1950's, it made you addicted to it and it have a superb graphics for that time. this time its great too except for LOD and some blurry things. wish they will fix that LOD and make us more options to chose at graphics menu.

Graphics are ok, what I'm worried about is that they released only 40% of the game or maybe less, the rest is supposed to be unlocked in the DLCs (which btw you will have to pay for). Greedy bas*ards, I payed them a lot of money for a castrated game. Hell no, I am not paying them a single penny, I will crack the game in the future and get all the DLCs for free, I will actually get the entire game that I paid for in the beginning.

LE: 7 years of development and they give us 9 hours of gameplay.

^^ its the way of the future it seems.
an effective way to stop second hand sales.

makes piracy much more appealing, how's that for wrong message sent?
i hope they see the stupidity of their actions.... soon.

Why even bother at this point? Like Internet petitions ever worked (Betty White just got lucky that one time :D). Remember how many signatures were on the MW2 dedicated server petition even before it was released?
Yeah, it didn't change anything and Activision didn't give a crap either.

Having played and finished both Mafia II and Red Dead Redemption in the same week, I can say, without any hesitations, that Red Dead is far more superior than Mafia II in every single way.

If you want a true open world game set in the 40s/50s, then just wait for Rockstar's L.A. Noire. Seeing how big of an improvement that Red Dead is over GTAIV, no doubt that Rockstar has learned its lessons from the mistakes that were made in GTAIV. Plus, Rockstar knows its stuff when it comes to open world gameplay, so L.A. Noire should turn out to be a great open world game.

Let's just hope for a PC/Console simultaneous release.

Is red dead redemption available for PC? I couldn't find it anywhere for it. When is it expected to be released and is there any info about how good the optimization will be? If it's like GTA IV, in no way am I going to support such games ever again.

Maybe... I mean, let's face it: this is a money driven industry. If there's enough demand to assure a large enough profit, a port will most likely be made.

That, or they are going to wait until they stop getting high amounts of sales on the console, and then port it to PC. We all know how much money company's lose to pirated games, so it makes sense. Get as much money as you can, and then when it slows, port it to PC.

I'm sure they would of lost millions in sales if it was released for PC too on the launch day, just from people pirating it "well the game comes out for Xbox, and PC, but I can save myself $60 if I just pirate it and play it on my computer".

Everything you could possibly want to know about the upcoming Mafia 2 DLC can be found in this comprehensive video footage:

    <param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Iy0nVslhfkk?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Iy0nVslhfkk?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width='640' height="385"></embed></object>

Edit: if you thought the above clip was funny, you haven't seen anything yet. Check out this one haha.

    <param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/QX44VGM1VgU?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/QX44VGM1VgU?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width='640' height="385"></embed></object>

Edit: Here is a video of the 2009 Mafia 2 trailer and if you look closely, you will see quite a few things included that are no longer in the ''final'' release. One of them is so simple yet just look how much more excitement it created in the gameplay.

    <param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/omY93dIH8pc?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/omY93dIH8pc?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width='640' height="385"></embed></object>

Mafia 2 development Diary yet again showing just how great the pre release is compared to retail.

The getting held up, and be able to choose whether to bribe the cop, show him your permit for the gun, or run was just AWESOME.

I gotta stop looking at this thread. Every time I see something else cut out of the game that looks really cool, I just get upset.

Those options are in the game, but that mission is not, which does sucks, because I would have liked to play it. Also the way they did the closet, I prefer that version than the one we have now.

Ya, there is a lot that is "in the game" just not playable without modding the game.

There is going to be a crap load of DLC and patches unlocking some stuff that should have been in the original game.

It was said before, but Mafia II was the game of the year that was never released.

If the features really are in game, I'm 100% sure people will find a way to unlock them, just like they did with the freeride mod. In this case, 2k will get the facepalm of a lifetime (and I'd do anything for this to happen).

The problem is if they are incomplete. 2K might release a few kb sized files to not only unlock the missions but add missing sections to enable it to work. Having said that, many people who completed the game all said it was never 100% even after collecting all known items.

I got 70%, tho I haven't collected all the items. And I was also thinking about that btw, how can a few posters or so called art works represent 30% of a game? Non sense. And I bet there's a lot more then that.
And about those KB sized "DCLs", I was also thinking about that :), think of the freeride mod, its a few kb file, imagine their so called DLCs of such sizes, costing 15-20$ each? Ahahaha

I thought the story was at least somewhat decent.......but that's it. Reminds me of Far Cry + Far Cry 2 all over again......

Am not a big fan of DLC either (unless its free). Include the stuff in the initial title itself (thereby justifying the $50-60 price tag of most games nowadays) or loose a sale.

Am going to be much more discerning now on before I pick up another game....

For anyone interested, apparently this free ride Mod unlocks a lot of interesting features. I don't know if it is for real so if anyone tries it, be sure to let us know.
