If gaming on battery, the frame rates of Doom 3 and Prey drop to 12 fps. If I game on AC adapter, they are up at 60 frames. I have the power setting at "High Performance". My battery is fully charged.

Is this normal or expected? Can anyone game with 60 frames on battery with max settings?

These are my specs: Gateway 6860 FX

    1.83 Ghz core 2 duo
    4 gb memory
    8800m GTS 512mb
    64 bit Vista

I believe on battery power the system automatically downclocks the videocard and CPU to conserve the battery. It is usually recommended only to game on the A/C power.

    Fix the PowerMizer :

Step 1 - Press the "window" key + R . This will lauch a command window. Type ((regedit)) then press OK.

Step 2 - Now navigate to this registry.

\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video\{**a series of numbers that are different**}\0000\

Step 3 - Find PowermizerLevel and change the value to 1

    Step 4 - Reboot ;)

    DON'T DISABLE IT !

thanks the pics does help. Although I did change the registry to 2222 I performed some tests and had the same results running on battery (my fps would still drop) so I set it back to 3333. I suspect that having an sli notebook you need a constant flow of electricity to maintain a certain level of performance, and the only solution would to keep it plugged in. Or some extended battery with more juice. Am I correct?

I have the p6860fx as well and had the same issues I found out. I changed it and have rebooted but I need to find a free game to test my results on.

I'd check Steam, they are always giving out trials. Or, the Company of Heroes Demo will surely put your hardware to the test (on/off battery power)
