Yea the ESRB gave it initial ratings of AO (adults only), meaning it wouldn't be sold at most major retailers which don't stock AO.

I think it' stupid that it's being banned from Sony and Nintendo consoles because if it already has the AO rating, and will be at limited availability, what's the point of banning it. This move is seriously going to hurt Rockstar's profit from the game and the games' ratings aren't the problem these days. It's that the parents of children don't care as much as they should.

My parents let me get GTA after a long discussion when I was basically underage. They soon saw that the game didn't affect me in the way they had thought. After that, they didn't care about any game I ever got...even Manhunt.

What really bugs me about this whole situation is that parents don't want to take any of the blame or responsibility for allowing/banning their kids from purchasing these kinds of games. Instead they blame the creators, console companies, stores that stock it, etc. ultimately it should be the parents stopping their children from buying these games. banning the game is simply stupid. if some of these parents used the same tenacity and conviction towards raising their kids as they did targeting video games, movies and things of that nature, their kids would be much better off and we wouldn't have a need for any of this garbage. on another note, I'm a proud owner of a Wii and I am really looking forward to this game (I'm at a legal age to buy it too). maybe gas stations should stock it and shelve it right next to the playboys and penthouses :D
