Mass Effect 1 --> ME2; saved game questions

After 6 months, I finally finished ME1. I know you can import your character from 1 to 2, but I have some questions. I've read a bit on it, but couldn't these answers.

I started a second play through on my character. I have the following goals.

1) I want to get some bonuses when starting ME2 by having a character over level 50.

2) I want to unlock more of the Biotic powers from my Adept to be usable as a Soldier. My primary character is Paragon Adept, I want to do a quick run through as Renegade Soldier, but I want this Soldier to have Singularity which I did not use enough on my first run to unlock.

3) When I get ME2, I want to import my Paragon Adept with all the choices I made in my first run through.

So my main unanswered question is this: If I do not finish the 2nd run of my Paragon Adept, will my actions have any effect when importing to ME2? One of my friends thought nothing counts unless you finish the 2nd run.

The 2nd run will allow you to access levels 50 and higher, which increase the starting bonuses for a me2 character on import.

The best thing to do is to use a Mass Effect 1 saved game editor, so that you can check off that you did certain things/quests even when you didn't. It saves a boat load of time. You can also totally bypass class limitations and allow all kinds of ridiculous biotic powers to be usable, even when your class is set to Soldier.

You can't import a character unless that character's career is finished. This 'career mode completed once' flag can be toggled in a ME1 saved game editor.

 

You don't need a 2nd run, just finish it once with any character. Or use a game editor. In any case the most important things you export in ME2 are the choices, whose by all means have nice repercussions.

 

What's the point of playing if you're going to cheat?

On topic, ME2 will only accept save files that have been finished. So if at the end of your first playthrough you're at level 49 but you stop playing your second playthrough before finishing the game at level 55, ME2 will still import your level 49 character.
