If you say so. After playing some more, the numbers got into the high 45fps. SO on my setup it averages about 38fps actually.
lol no, I beat it once in 2007 and twice in 2010.

How many cd's come with mass effect 2 someone told me there are two and the second cd is like bonus features?
-
What are these CDs you speak of?
-
The Collector's Edition comes with a 'behind the scenes' documentary on separate disk.
-
Certificate of Deposit? It comes with ME2? I love Bioware!!!
-
Ah ok, that makes more sense haha
-
ahhh ok, thanks, I guess I won't waste money on that .

The behind the scenes will probably appear sometime on Youtube anyways

Anyone try using a Xbox 360 controller for this game?
I know the first one didn't and before all you people say " This game was meant to be played with a keyboard and mouse" and yes I do know that a " mouse and keyboard are 100 times better than a controller: fool" but I really would like to hook it up to my 50 inch HDTV and enjoy it from the comfort of my couch .
Call me lazy/crazy or whatever but trying to play this game with a keyboard and mouse ( just chillin) from the couch seems like to much of a hassle. -
Just read the gamespot review of the game. The RPG elements have been stripped down considerably making it far easier to "run and gun" for the impatient trigger-friendly gamer. I'll pass on this like I did the 1st one since I'm not a big fan of RPGs/3rd person action games set in Sci-Fi futuristic settings.
-
from what i heard, rpg elements seems to be concentrated on charactor interactions rather than stats and combat. so in a sense you're right.
i'll probably buy it when it's cheaper, my laptop can't run it well anyway. -
I found the PC version to be MUCH easier than the 360 version, and I had the aim assist turned down to the lowest setting in the PC version. Maybe to each his own, but that shows that at least for me, kbm works better than a gamepad for shooting. The 360 gamepad is the best gamepad money can buy though.
-
Anyone know if ME2 scales well to hardware? I definitely do not want to buy a 360, but I love the first one.
-
well, on a 8600m GT and T7300 you could probably get it to run a 1280x800, max settings at 30fps average. Thats just my estimation from experience. You might have to turn the lighting settings down some or even run the game in DX9 to get good performance, if I'm wrong about my original guess.
-
Thanks for the response, but if you don't mind me asking, what are you basing this assessment off of? Have you tried the game on a similar setup?
-
You can tell they made it to scale well because of the system requirements. The minimum has is the same as the original Mass Effect, while the recommended is higher.
You should expect performance similar to what you got in the first game.
Dynamic Shadows is what will affect your 8600M the most. -
Sorry, but 8600m is way weaker, than my 9650m GT, and I had to OC my GPU to get over 30-40 fps on max settings with few things turned off.
-
game is fantastic so far. phew what an opening.
-
Even though I think Dragon Age was a better game than ME1, I'll buy ME2. Just wanted to thank Bioware for letting me know, which they didn't, to hang onto my ME1 saved game files, they might be useful for ME2 !
Oh well at least its an RPG ! -
9800m GS, everything on at 1366x768, averages 40 FPS.

Bioware long announced (well over a year) that characters created in the original title would be transferable to the sequel. -
For everything story related it doesn't actually matter if you have your old save files, you just need your memory.
If you don't load an old save file with a beaten ME1 game, it gives you a big list of all the major plot choices in ME1 and lets you choose how you want your new characters past to have played out. -
Either I missed it, or no it doesn't. It just makes assumptions/takes the canon route.
-
My CE showed up today from Gamestop. Unfortunately no one was around to accept deliver so now I have to go pick it up tomorrow.
-
My bad, I was going from a bad source.
-
I played for a few hours today and man am I loving it. The beginning was pretty epic and the developing storyline is great - lots of choices to make. The RPG elements have been toned down though. It keeps the game flowing, but seems to take away from some of the character depth so far. We'll see as time goes on how I feel about that one. So far, great job BioWare.
-
I feel all the changes made were for the better, minus the lack of weapon choices, but its an epic game for sure, I was so sad when Shepard was dead lol.
-
I just got my first taste of ME2 last night, and its very epic, and very upsetting at the same time. I'm not really fond of all the changes (mainly the controls, they shouldn't have messed with that) but I honestly think it's because I played through ME1 RIGHT before I started ME2.
If you download the normandy crash site thing too, I found it to actually be really sad
it made me uncomfortable
-
I still haven't got around to finishing the first ME1. I will be picking up the ME2 once I finish the first one... Vanguard all the way. Lol
-
I miss the XP from enemy kills. Because of the much higher emphasis on combat, and thus the much greater number of enemies you face, it feels weird not to be directly rewarded for killing them.
-
Yeah! And I don't feel any reason to go out of the way to do things like ask extra questions. There's no reward in most cases! In ME1 you always had the XP to look forward to.
-
On the other hand - it's a better solution not to get xp from every pesky weak enemy you kill, experience is now gained through exploring and solving quests and this seems to make more sense.
-
True, but you used to get a boatload of XP from doing the same in ME1 also.
You know what frustrates the crap out of me though, only being able to carry 30 probes. I go through them too fast when exploring
-
Btw anyone knows how to use mel-gel?
-
From what I understand it's used in combo with the "Unity" power, as it seems they removed the health bar and went with that horrid red vein affect.
-
The game is very good, some changes have been made, but I think for the better
I enjoy this game a lot more than ME1
-
So now auto-regen behind cover is the only way to gain health?
-
It's linked to the Unity skill now. When you use it, it heals the party and revives those that have fallen.
I'm enjoying it. I hate the ammo system with a passion, but the rest of it is nice. I'm hoping as I go along the ammo will improve (i.e. can carry more clips, etc.). -

If you speak to one of your teammates, usually there's an option to ask about upgrades for the normandy. One of them allows you to carry an extra 30 probes for a total of 60 probes. You can also increase fuel up to 1500. I think you need to talk to Samara for the probe upgrade. -
Sorry if this is off topic ...but do you HAVE to be lvl 60 to get your character imported to ME2 or any character of any lvl can be imported , as long as youve finished the game . I have finished the game , just never got to 60 . Dont really have the time for side quests .

Only beat the game. -
Any character that's finished the first game.

For Nvidia users and AA:
Use Nhancer profile 80100c5. -
you dont have to, but my lvl 56 got 200,000 credit to start --- nice boost!
-
not all of them - a couple of 'what ever happened to' moment so far...
i was not asked about this in the initial questions -
do credits carry through? i maxed out credits in me1 lol.
-

You can't adjust graphic settings can you? I don't see many choices such as AA in the options section.
-
Is there a way to set antialiasting in this game?
-
Here's a quick tutorial, on what you do to add AA; this is Nvidia only:
1. Download Nhancer
2. Right-click within the Application list, select 'Add new profile' -> name it Mass Effect 2
3. Now, go to the Executables box, and click the button next to it. Navigate to the Mass Effect 2 folder, and select the MassEffect2.exe; for Steam users, you have one more step: since it launches through Steam, you must also add Steam.exe in the Launcher field.
4. Finally, with your newly created Mass Effect 2 profile selected, go to the Compatibility tab. Under 'Anti-Aliasing compatibility', select '090100C5: Unreal Engine 3'. Now you can go to the ' Enhancements' tab, and select however much AA you want to use.
Avoid any Supersampling, stick to Multisampling. I'm using 2xMSAA.
