The DLC (1st one) is like an extended side-mission with some story. It add 30-45 extra minutes of game play, so I would say it is worthy.
As for the link of the decisions from ME1 to ME2... it seems there is still no information... but a fair guess would be at least 3 choices: the council, whom died (him or her), and how you dealt with your 'rogue' mercenary member. Frankly that would be the least they should do... but I would like that Bioware comes with a nice extra surprise... we'll see.

I think there's some bonus in Mass Effect 2 if you finished Mass Effect with a character at level 60. -
there is quite a few more. off the top of my head, romance options, interactions with conrad verner, and tera firma.

No, the level will not be included. They said due to the large amount of gameplay changes you will start at level 1 -
Well, if they included also such choices, even if it is a 1 line statement somewhere in the game, I would really be satisfied (since they were quite minor choices in regard to the story in ME1).

Just wanted to let anyone know if you have a laptop with a HD 3470 card the game plays fine @ 1024*768, Enabled High quality bloom, Film grain on and Light environment shadows on. I received my copy yesterday from Amazon.

Thanks. I've been trying to run at native res (1280x800) at low setting and still getting at most 20 fps. It's been frustrating because of the crappy framerate.

fyi.....
The Steam pre-load is up!
edit: if it doesn't properly download, you need to click File -> check for Steam client updates -
Ah, thanks. Obviously I had not realized they decided to drop that.

So I decided to pre-order Mass Effect 2. Per-loading now
