The game is out so let the discussion begin! I preordered the digital deluxe edition and will be firing it up shortly.
Check out this giveaway for a free weapon in ME3. Credit goes to Rypac for the find:

Rypac is my hero. I love playing an infiltrator, but in a "designated marksman" way instead of a "scout sniper" way. (For those not familiar, a designated marksman carries a scoped assault rifle and fights with a unit, providing longer-range fire for the unit; a scout sniper operates away from the main unit, using a dedicated sniper rifle, often either bolt-action or extremely-high-caliber). So the M-90 will fit my gameplay perfectly. Never would have known about that give-away except for his post.

I can't wait to play it. I too got the DDE, but decided to wait to play it til after I beat darksiders and Alan Wake.
-
I think the dialogue is much improved this time around. Humorous, serious, tragic, emotional? ME3 got it all, and very often.
-
I can't believe I'm stuck in depositions all week and won't get to play this before the weekend

Is it recommended to finish ME2 before starting ME3 if in any way you could transfer your UPGRADED ME2 character to ME3 at startup? Does this happen? Then I got a long way to go before I finish ME2, I'm only 6 hrs into ME2.
How long did it take you guys to finish ME 1 and then ME 2 [each game]? -
I usually take my time to finish up all side quests and upgrades before progressing to the finisher, so I typically have between the mid-30 to 40 hours, for both ME1 and ME2. Looking forward to playing this one, so far it looks amazing
I think it's recommended to play ME2 first not so much for upgrades as it is for the story. -
yeah you got reference back to all the deeds you did in 1 and 2, its great if you're crazy about the story (like me)
-
I'll be interested to see hear how the gun performs in-game. I plan on picking up ME3 soon but want to finish my play-through of ME2 first. -
I was going to replay ME1 & ME2, but then I stumbled into a really old save file when I first got ME1. I think I'll go off, from there.

35 to 40 hr for a ME game is a good enough length. I played Fable 3 twice and it was a 28 hr game each time [played male & female characters].

So my friend has it on Xbox and we tried to get him that free sniper rifle. It didn't work so if you guys want it, here:

Anyway we should post our Origin names for some online matches.

I've been trying to run the multiplayer game but I am always getting the
"Mass Effect 3 has stopped working" error and just goes to the desktop.
Single player works fine though.. anybody have a solution? -

and btw, thanks rypac, without you I wouldnt have the m90 as well.
Got some play time today, woke up at 4am and fired up till 9am, and I still only arrived slightly late for work, gotta love summertime!
Here is the deal, in sp as we all know the combat system is improved, I have to agree with the me3 review of ars, the cover system still sucks, but Im too much drawn into the story as of now to notice (I think I leveled up to 70 in the demo mp, so I got used to it not working)
Btw the silver is now bronze, mp is getting hard as it can get, I could only finish one game out of 5, but due to that leveling characters is going to be one easy thing, I got from 1-5 in that play through.
And the writing of the story I think has gone down since the me1, and me3 so far has been better than me2. I did one major quest, and 3 sidequests.
Galaxy at war - that thing gives me a sense of depth, and a sense of abyss. I wont be able to finish a game with 100% readiness, due to time constraints, I have played it this morning, my level was 60%, and as of now is already down to 50% (its 22:53 gmt -3), so I lost 10% in a single day, I dont know where the devs got the idea to diminish this so fast, its disappointing. I only have time to play games on sunday nights, so one sunday I might as well get 100%, only to see it next week down to 50% again, quite frustrating.
I liked the as time goes by you lose war readiness, since the war is raging out, its not ecstatic, however to drop so fast? its quite difficult for us that like to game, but dont have the time nor the dedication for that.
things are quite expensive in game, and there are no discounts, I have already taken a look at the sav files to see if there was something that could be altered there to give me more money and so far I have found how to add guns, however I just want to add the money, the guns I will see if I buy it or not.
my rating as of now is 9/10
it needs some polishing thats for sure -
Damnit!! I started watching trailers and stuff today and a few from ME1&2. Next thing I know I dropped $80 on Amazon and am downloading the DD Edition.
I loved the MP demo so I figure if the campaign comes through as it usually does and the MP stays awesome this game is the full package.

How do you holster your weapon in ME3?
-
^^^
You can't, i really miss that from ME2.
They said is to due to memory issues

Anyone try the Chakram Launcher (add-on for completing Amalur demo) yet? On a scale from 1 (being "useless" or "ME2 Incisor sniper rifle") to 10 (being "awesome" or "ME2 Mattock rifle"), how good is it? Is it worth playing through the Amalur demo to get?
-
This is the first time ive touched a ME game, and i am rather impressed so far im thoroughly enjoying it
-
You really should play ME 1 and 2 before playing 3, they all tie in so well you might as well be playing the same game all the way through. I probably played this for 4-5 hours today, and I just have one real complaint.
No native controller support. Doubleyou Tee Eff? The whole game is a console port, and you can't even keep controller support? Pinnacle fixed this for me in short order (this is definitely the kind of game I want to play on my 55" screen), but we should not have to resort to 3rd party programs to get controller support for games also released on 360 in 2012.
Also the hot new intern aboard the Normandy is lesbian-only in terms of relationship potential. My male Shepard has some serious blue balls. -
Got the sniper rifle, thanks for the tip!!
-
ok i've been eyeing this game for some time, can someone give me the basic differences and bumps from ME2 to ME3?
-

They screwed the custom Shep importing up. I had to remake him (code wouldn't work).
-
I can't import my ME1/2 character at all. And in the ME3 config file it gives me no option to choose "Saved Games" like the ME2 config file
-
Added a rolling dodge ability to combat.
Improved leveling system.
Improved inventory system.
More enemy types, and more aggressive enemies.
Completion of the Mass Effect trilogy's story.
Addition of multiplayer. -
I added a few Origin IDs from this thread.
My own ID is " DEagleson ".
Had trouble adding my custom FemShep but thanks to some clever time wasting i manually redid most of the settings to be as close as the original. -

Ive heard so much negative things about the ending im having trouble enjoying the game. Is it THAT bad? Or is it just nominal?
Please dont spoil anything thanks. -
Don't worry about whether the ending's good. If you think about that, it inevitably will feel not good enough. Just enjoy the game as it goes instead of worrying about whether the ending will satisfy.
By the way, my ID is Mitlov and I intend on doing lots of multiplayer...though I can't start until tomorrow night due to lots of work this week. -
John_31_Vanguard_######. This was my original save file folder, and I had moved it somewhere else for safe keeping. I replaced it with a folder named simply ME2, and the ME3 game could not/would not see it. So, your ME2 files seemingly have to be in a folder that formated like this in order for ME3 to see it. -
Finally got a chance to play it, but it won't launch. This is the error I'm getting:
EDIT: Never mind, I had Origin update the game (a 40 MB update) and now it works perfectly. Played two rounds of multiplayer. Had a blast with my engineer. -
Okay, finally getting into the game, noticed charactors look a little strange. Pick ed up that reporter woman (yikes). LOL, she looks haggered. Really happy Ashley got the crap beat out of her. I just could not take her whining.
Ashley: Shepard, you still with Cerberus?
Shepard: Ash, shut the hell up about that, I did save the universe.
Ashley: I know, BUUUUUUT
Shepard: AWWW, Ash got the crap beat out of her by robot-Must hurry to save her-Hey got dirt in my eye, Be right there.
Ashley: You still with cerberus (passes out)
Shepard: Why do I have to carry her back to ship. I should not have saved her in the last game.
I hope she doesn"t come back. -
Looking forward to picking the game up at Gamestop after school.
I'm really excited about the multiplayer

I had a patch last night that may have fixed some of the voice syncing issues...or I finally got used to it and they're still dog poo

Her whining about cerberus, is continual from ME2. Her beat down, I would say is end of Moon mission. -
Will this be able to run nicely on an Asus n53sv ?
i5 2410 w/ gt540m? -
Just kidding, its fairly early in the game, just after the first level featured in the PC demo. -

This game runs at pretty good settings on a thinkpad t420 with the HD3000 intel card.
-
I really enjoy this game. I do wish other games were as easy to mod as this. The coalesced file is so easy to mod. I've only done God mod, money, and ammo. I like playing the game my way. Right now I have no interest in the multiplayer, maybe later.

For those of you who either lost your save files or are starting with ME3 (although I would suggest playing through both the previous games!) and don't want to stick with the "preset" choices, you can get ME2 save games here.
Also FYI, the default "choices" if you start a new game in ME3 are rather renegade:
If you start a new game in ME 3 without importing any data from ME 1 or ME 2, here is what is assumed happens:
Mass Effect 1:
- Garrus was recruited
- Wrex was recruited
- The Colony on Feros was not saved
- Shiala, the sari taken by the Thorian on Feros, was killed.
- The rachni queen on Noveria was killed
- Wrex died on Virmire, killed by Shepard.
- Shepard did not have any romance
- The Council died, the Destiny Ascension was destroyed
- Udina was named Councilor.
- For all side content (DLC), the assumption is that you did not see the content or complete any optional side plots.
Mass Effect 2:
- Shepard is not assumed to complete any loyalty missions. As a result:
- Shepard did not complete Mordin's loyalty mission and never had the chance to save/destroy the genophage cure data.
- Tali was exiled by her people
- Shepard did not have any romance
- Zaeed and Kasumi were never recruited
- Mordin is alive
- Garrus is alive
- Grunt was never woken up from the taken, and is never mentioned.
- Jack died during the Suicide Mission
- Tali was recruited and is alive. (Tali never romanced)
- Samara was never recruited. She fought her way off of Illium and was later killed by Morinth.
- Thane died during the Suicide Mission.
- Miranda is alive
- Jacob is alive
- Legion was never reactivated and does not have the name Legion as a result.
- Shepard destroyed the Collector base rather than turn it over to Cerberus.
- The only Normandy crew members who survived the Suicide Mission were Joker and Chakwas. Yeoman Chambers, Ken, Gabby, and all other ME 2 non-squad crew died.
- Shepard did not complete any optional N7 missions or other special assignments (Citadel missions).
DLC Spoilers
- Shepard did not complete Arrival, Overlord, or Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC (but the events of Arrival and Shadow Broker took place offscreen: the Batarian system was still destroyed, and Liara is still the Shadow Broker).

I find the lack of chat function in multiplayer rather curious. No "let's gather over here," "nice shot," "gg," or "get the hell out of my way you n00b." Very unusual for multiplayer shooter, I think.
-
2-find the coalseced file. Mine is found here Crogram Files (x86)\Origin 3-Games\Mass Effect 3\BIOGame\CookedPCConsole.
3-MAKE BACK UP OF COALSCECED.BIN FILE
4-Open the downloaded editer, and upper left open and look for coalsced.bin file. Once opened everything will be on left side of editor. Nothing on right yet. Going down left side Look for bioinput.ini, click + sign. Go down new branch look for sfxgame click + sign. New branch look for sfxgamemodedefault, click + sign. Click on bindings = (multiple) . Stuff on right side of editor appear. Go to last line on right side, it should be blank and right:
(Name="NumPadSeven", Command="initcredits 5000000" )
This will give you 5Million bucks to shop. Press numpad 7. Mine worked while I was in game, not when I was looking at screen that shows money.
WRITE IT JUST THE WAY IT IS, OR JUST CUT AND PASTE. Everything. parenthis, commas and quotes included!!!!
Save coaleseced file, and put it back where it came from. The editor makes a backup of the coalesed file. It will save coalseced.binoriginal.
Remember backup coalesecd.bin file or you will be reinstalling your game.
Good luck -

thank you! didnt saw that there was a utility for that, I was doing via notepad ++ and was going to try today with visual studio
-
ME3 arrived today (yay) and I've installed it and decided to try out the beginning. But it runs so choppy, especially the cutscenes, in some of the cutscenes it is literally like a slideshow.
Now my PC exceeds the minimum requirements without doubt. Also ME2 ran flawlessly, max settings at full 1080p on the exact same PC! Seeing as they're both using the same engine you'd think they'd perform the same (after all ME2 ran better than ME1 AND looked better at the same time!).
I've done all the standard stuff such as close any uneeded background programs, update to latest drivers, disable Origin in-game, overclock GPU, disable AA, disable Catalyst AI in the CCC. I've ran out of ideas. Choppiness persists even on lowest settings. Lowering resolution only helps slightly, not enough.
Please, help! I've been looking forward to this game far to long to have it ruined now! -
I had some issues with the download from Amazon.com, and I'm not the only one. I didn't complain about it, but it took a few more minutes than I expected to get it up and running. I never complained, just shrugged it off as "these things happen sometimes."
Nevertheless, Amazon just emailed me to let me know that it's offering a choice of one of four EA games (Dead Space 1, Dragon Age: Origins, Mass Effect 1, or Mirror's Edge) for free as a "we're sorry" to each and every person who bought ME3 through them.
Between this and the exceptional customer service I've had with my Kindle Fire when I had one problem with it, I have to say Amazon is setting the bar for customer service really, really high. Two thumbs up. -
Is it just me, or in multiplayer, does cerberus = cakewalk, geth = you might survive, and reapers = Gallipoli?
