I'm a huge fan of this game, I really CAN"T wait... can't wait to get my new lappy too
I'm imagining this @1080p + Me myself and I

Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
Totally keeping my Pre-Order of the N7 Edition!

Looks cool!

AWESOMESAUCE.
Love the thresher maw attacking the reaper. -
never played ME but the trailer hooked me in
-
For the sake of the story, I'd play all three. Be aware that the first game, like the first Star Wars movie (episode 4), is necessary to set the stage of the story, the universe, etc, but isn't the greatest game ever (not awful, just not great). ME2, on the other hand, deserved every award it won.
-
I agree, I don't think I've ever been as contextually immersed in video game story like I have the Mass Effect games. I've played both games through completely several times each.
Half the "experience" they offer are the excellent storylines, so you miss out on them if you don't play them through. -
CAN'T WAIT
Just in case the save file, from ME2 can be carried over to ME3, I have it backed up in several places ready to go. -
It can. They've already confirmed that decisions made in previous games will affect ME3, and in fact, probably more so than in ME2. For example, on the romance front, they've confirmed that if you had a romance in ME1 and another romance in ME2, you might have to deal with drama between your two romantic partners in ME3. I suspect that what you did with the rachni in ME1 will also play in big-time.
-
I know I am in the minority here, but for some reason that trailer did not impress me at all. It just made me feel like its a Gears of War type of game or something like it, which is nothing new to me. I was more hype with the teaser awhile back.

Co-op should be interesting, in the series finally.

Thresher maw FTW!
. Well, time to pre-order that N7 edition on amazon...

Mr_Mysterious Like...duuuuuude
Wow it looks almost as good as the Assassin's Creed Revelations trailer...
That being said, ME1 > Assassin's Creed. It's the first RPG/Shooter that I thoroughly enjoyed

I hope the PC version of this supports the 360 controller... the first two didn't
-
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
It plays better with the Keyboard and Mouse in my opinion if you got the PC Version. The PC Version has a different UI mapping that isn't favoring the 360 Controller. -
Well my wife likes the story but can't shoot to save her life, so she liked to watch me play the first two, which is much more easily done on a 55" screen than a 24" one. I didn't own a 360 at that point so it wasn't an option, but for anything that's not a multiplayer shooter, I generally prefer playing it on a TV with a controller. I just don't like console graphics if I can avoid them.
-
I REALLY do hope so, would be epic...
-
I kinda do the same thing with my games, though im forever alone.
A wireless keyboard & mouse helps out greatly. -

You just need more monitors.
-
You must play it! the game is one of my all time favorite, it is really worth it!
Yeah, don't forget the music and the enviroments...
It feels like Gears of War, but with RPG elements and way better story in my opinion, feels more like a Sci-Fi movie!
You really have to try it to appreciate it!
ME1 >>>>> Assassin's creed
Too...much...Bezel...Kill the experience!
This would be nice:
Alienware I believe!
-
I played both ME1 and ME2 with my wireless 360 on my lappy. I used a software called pinnacle game profiler. It helps you map the keys to the controller. Or, if you don't want to do that you can either download profiles, from other users on the forum or official profiles from the the site. I'm an aweful keyboard users.
-
I'm using Pinnacle to play through Oblivion right now, and while it does work well, it's not quite as good as native controller support, especially when doing things such as browsing through menus.
I've successfully used it to play an old game (Descent 3) from 1999 with a controller, though, so yes it works. -
I really really liked ME1, when it was still an RPG shooter. ME2 became more shooter, less rpg, but it was still okay except the story didn't particularly hooked me.
ME3 just now looks like a generic third person shooter, so I am not really that interested in playing it anymore.
They are still solid games, but ME1>> the rest! -
I don't think you can determine that a game will lack significant RPG elements from 30 seconds of eye candy. I'm sure this game will have plenty.
-
Haha its the direction they went in. ME2 was already more third person shooter, much less RPG. ME1 was even a bit clunky as a third person shooter but was more focused on rpg elements and stats rather than skill.
From all the videos, interviews etc, it is obvious this third installment is even more action and third person shooter with only some RPG elements. Skills were already dumbed down in the second one, streamlined and with one detail that always found amusing... why would using 1 skill, put on cooldown all the others? haha. -
One thing that bothered me about ME1 (and pretty much every Bioware RPG) was inventory management. I wish they hadn't dumbed the skills down in ME2, but I was glad they did away with the old inventory system.
-
Well, Mass Effect 1 and 2 and the DLCs are on sale on Origin now (40%), so if you haven't played it, you could get it there. I don't think it'll be on sale on Steam, so now's the time.
I didn't think the VGAs trailer showed us anything much of gameplay, just Shepard dashing and rolling, the rest were cutscenes. cutscenes, but still.. -
This is true. Inventory Management in ME1 was atrocious haha. Thats one thing they really improved.
Well to be honest, between interviews, the leaked story, videos and previews of gameplay it really tells.
they were showing off the soldier, with new melee one shot kills up close, co-op etc etc. -
Pretty much that's how it was.
ME1 had its flaws, nothing to be considered a deal-breaker but overall an awesome experience.
I will not comment on ME2, as for ME3 I hope they will give us a great story... -

I'm not impressed.
Just kidding. This looks sweet. -

What? ME1 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ME2. It isn't even close. -
I thoroughly enjoy these games, played throught the first 2 several times, looking forward to see how each character plays out.
-
It isn't even objective. Unless you were crowned the universal arbiter of game ratings.
-
Hockeymass for the win.
ME2 had, in my opinion, a vastly superior combat system, and the characters seemed more lifelike to me. Garrus and Tali were both wooden in ME1 compared to how they came to life in ME2. And Kaidan and Ashley didn't seem as human as Miranda and Jacob, particularly once you'd done Miranda and Jacob's side-quests.
Your mileage may vary.
For what it's worth, IGN loved both, but loved ME2 more than ME1 (9.6 compared to 9.2). -
I agree, gameplay-wise ME2 was a success over ME1 (even with the removal of weapon heating, which I thought was quite original). Also the companions are far more interesting and their missions really add some food for thought. The only drawback of ME2, compared to ME1, is that the main story is quite weak. That could be because we already knew who were the bad guys...

I was (10 char) -
I have to agree that I enjoyed the characters in ME2 more, even the returning ones. I had no qualms about letting Kaidan die, and I only felt a little bit bad about having to kill Wrex (couldn't save him).
In ME2 I worked really hard to not let any of my characters die, even though
Jack still didn't make it (least favorite character, so oh well)
Garrus was like, my right hand man. Tali was a little more outgoing, which I liked, felt like she actually developed a personality instead of being the boring technogeek outsider. -
Personally I liked both the previous games about equal. I would have preferred to keep the stronger RPG elements WITH the better combat. That would have made the second installment a slam dunk in my mind.

Tinderbox (UK) BAKED BEAN KING
I have finished 1 and 2 on the 360 , and i preferred 1 , no vehicle mode in 2 and on 1 the game just seemed better, 2 was a disappointment.
Now 3 looks great, but good gaming is a lot more that graphics. -
I thought the absence of the Mako in 2 was a huge plus. That thing sucked.
-
Eh I'm more of a sucker for open-world sandbox RPGs like the ones from Bethesda...Bioware story-driven games never interested me (except Dragon Age Origins for about 5 days but got bored after that). Hoping for a fusion between the two extremes in RPGs developed in the future.
-
I thought the concept of Mako exploration and combat was great, but it was really poorly executed. And it moved too slowly for the large environments you had to traverse (particularly when moving up hills). If the control scheme and the overall pacing had been like, say, a Warthog from Halo, it would've been great.
I thought the Hammerhead from ME2's DLC was a much much better take on the idea, but I wish it was used for exploration more. I'd rather spend five minutes sailing over amazing alien terrain then spend 10 minutes planet-scanning, right? (I think we can all agree that planet-scanning sucked and should be replaced with something else). -
See, I'm the opposite. I love story-driven RPGs, and I have trouble relating to sandbox games.
I think they should keep the two somewhat separate, because I see a game halfway in between as likely being the worst of both worlds (you can't really do anything you dream up, yet on the other hand, the story isn't all that good). -
Yeah, the idea of exploring the planets was pretty good, but I HATED the Mako.
-
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
I LOVED the Mako becuase you can physically defy physics with it!
I will admit the controls for it were a bit awful so to say...
-
Definitely. Planet scanning was simply a failure (I lost interest right after the third scanned planet). The Hammerhead was a good idea, but that's what we get for developing it as a DLC rather than an integrated part of the game (even if after you put it all as a 'free' DLC).
