So, I bought Mass Effect. Obviously this game has alot of problems on the PC.

I tried to run it after patching, and before patching, and i got the same error.
    I re-installed. Same error.

the image of the error is attached to this post. PLEASE help.

Try running from the binaries folder? The actual Mass Effect.exe.

Also what OS are you running? Try running in compatibility mode if your in Vista.

Which patch do you have at the moment ? Maybe try the new one in case they fixed it.

If the new patch doesn't work try reinstalling I suppose, I have it for PC and have never experience any problems.

I originally had some issues with Mass Effect as well. However, I found that it worked when I created a shortcut to the main .exe in the Program Files and ran it with administrator priveleges. You can try that and see if it works for you.

I tried making the shortcut, i applied the 1.01 patch, didnt work. I am Dling the 1.02 patch right now, maybe that will work.

For any other consolation, I have an HP DV4 Notebook. Maybe it does not work for this system.

    Dxdiag in attach.

Right click on the Mass Effect.exe executable, and select Run As Administrator.
If that doesn't work, in the Mass Effect configuration window, reset all settings and reduce the resolution.

What are the specs of your machine? Note that Mass Effect will not run on a machine with a GPU worse than an ATI X1300 XT or NVIDIA GeForce 6 series.

I dont think your graphics card is good enough, after reading your dx.diag file I guess you have some integrated Intel chip, which is about as weak as you can get.

Following your point, I checked also the DxDiag and in addition to an Intel card... 64MB dedicated memory??!!

Well, no wonder it is not running....

An Intel 4500mhd should have the technical capabilities to run the game, but in all likelyhood, won't.

Intel graphics are notoriously crappy when it comes to actually RUNNING things.

Should you decide to sell it, the good news is, since you never actually got INTO the game, you shouldn't have used an activation - and if you did, you can revoke it.

I remember when my first notebook had a integrated intel graphics card and how heart broken I was when I couldn't run ANYTHING. The sad part is Intel always gives their graphics such misleading names like Intel Extreme Graphics etc..

Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family = Video Card.

That is indeed the problem, do you have a better computer to run it on?

Unfortunatly, I do not. And as an added bonus, its a integrated Hp Notebook! Which means I cant change it with out breaking it as far as I know.
