Just found out about new downloadable content for Mass Effect

Anybody got it yet? Kinda disappointed that it isn't free like the first DLC Bring Down the Sky

Yah also heard it was horrendous. I don't want to play it and ruin my memories of Mass Effect. I think they got this one out for PR reasons more than anything else, so they can say "we support our games with multiple releases of DLC."

I wrote a review of this in September (can't post a link since it's on my site). Pinnacle Station adds 2 hours or so of playtime and doesn't really do anything for you. I don't know why Bring Down the Sky was free and this was $5 . . . should have been the other way around (or even better, both free ;)).

The real attraction of Pinnacle Station is the 'reward' you get at the end, which is access to the Admiral's apartment. You can contact weapons suppliers from that ship and get all kinds of nice Level X stuff.

I played it. It's not particularly bad, but nor is it good. It's essentially a bunch of combat missions where you need to kill X enemies or survive or capture N flags in a given amount of time. Some of the Hunt missions are rather challenging at the highest difficulty setting, other than that it's fairly standard stuff. You also get a nice looking apartment which contains essentially a gambling money sink that can net some of the best items in the game.

I think it costs a bit too much for what you get, but if money on the scale of $5 doesn't really matter to you, it's not the worst way to spend it.

I like it. I bought it on my Xbox 360 and Survival mode's a bit like the Horde mode in Gears of War 2, or the zombies in Call of Duty World at War, or Firefight in Halo ODST, except the enemies don't show up in waves, they just keep popping up everywhere. There are three other modes but they're not quite as much fun as survival. The other modes are 'kill as many enemies as possible within a certain time', 'kill x enemies as quickly as possible', and 'capture these territories that the enemies don't seem to want back'.

Also, if you don't have the assault rifles skill you can consider yourself dead (or I'm not very good at the game).
