I was thinking of getting this game to play on the road since it has gotten such good reviews. Think it will play okay on a 7800 GTX 512/C2D 2.1? I have 2 GBs of RAM, XP and the crappy hard drive that came in it.

I'd like to play at a decent resolution, though I'm not optimistic enough to think it will do native (1920x1200)..was looking for just some high settings at something like 1200x800.

I love Bioware games, and this one has a good deal right now for $35

Mine is the 7800M GTX 512, I don't know how that stacks up against the 7950. Thanks for the response. The game looks fun.

the performance shouldnt be bad at all. the 7800m gtx should have a 258 bit bandwidth so, high on 1280x800 should be fine.

At 1280*800 resolution you should be able to almost max everything. I could play with a mixture of med-high settings on my 8600mGT.

I've had something of a revival of interest since I heard about SW:TOR, and played both Kotors again. I decided it was time to check Mass Effect out and see how that game is.

Thanks, I'm going to get it since it seems it will run okay

Don't worry, it will run fine, and actually the visuals and overall presentation is very good.

You should hover between 20-35 at max settings.

Mass Effect is $19.99 on Steam fyi.

Mass Effect is a great game and your laptop will run it perfectly. I don't know if it will run 100% perfectly but at least 99% :D
