What's the status on the DRM issue (ie limited installs, periodic online verification, etc)?
-
Argh I'm strapped on cash... I'll get it next week. ^^
-
if anybody gets it, let us know about how it performs
-
Yes indeedy, I want to know how it runs before I get it.
-
Is it on Steam? I don't need a box considering I have both versions for XBOX.
EDIT: Not on Steam or Impulse means no sale for me. LAME. (well not really, I wasn't going to buy it anyway). -
I was thinking of buying it, but I don't know how well it'll perform on a 8400GS... Miserably I assume...
I'll keep an eye out for any feedback!
And it's a shame that it isn't on steam! -
Err,looks nice, but not my game type.
I am curious , isn`t there a demo of this? -
nah, no demo
-
if this game have no DRM like BIOSHOCK then i'll get as soon as otherwise i'll not going to buy like BIOSHOCK F@#@$% DRM. i'll save money for other game.can some one give any info about DRM in this game.
-
what the hell is DRM?
-
How would this game run with an ATI X1600 256MB Dedicated? (2GB RAM, XP, T2330 Core Duo).
-
no one has tested yet Defoe
wait for a few more hours
-
-
Anyone seen the system requirements for the boxed version?
-
No demo,no problem.I ain`t interested
-
Mass Effect PC version IGN review out!
-
What does IGN review say? My work internet restricts access to gaming sites. Thanks.
-
-
Here you go.....
-
It's very positive, XBOX owners will be pleased to hear that the PC version does not suffer from the texture popping problem.
Reviewer doesn't say what the official system requirements are though, he does say it's a CPU hog. -
I plan on picking it up today, however don't know that I'll get much time to play considering I'm watching Stanley Cup Playoffs, NBA Conference Finals, and travelling this weekend, on top of managing my baby and wife who had a fall accident. But I'm sure if I skip a few hours of sleep I can play (which I'm stupid enough to do).
-
-
These are the official minimum requirements:
-
Jeez, the recommended specs are pretty high actually... 7900 or higher? A 7900, if I can remember correctly, is way better than a 8600 GT (DDR3 or DD2)... But even so I'm going to pick it up for my laptop later today.
-
Picking it up in about 2 hours
. But still at work so I'll post a performance update around 8.
-
The processor spec is really high, curiously the game seems to be optimised for AMD processors with the reduced clock speed requirements.
-
well Grid said it needed C2d 2.6ghz, i think devs are trying to be honest with people about the requirements, if you need to play on something above 1440x900 then you'll need a c2d 2.6 ghz
EDIT: i think all laptop users are gonna get rammed by problems !

Im going to buy it today if possible, although its going to be a long shot for my x1400
. Ill try and post the good or bad results anyways...if they are bad the game will be sitting on my shelf for awhile
-
i was gonna buy it in 5 mins and bench it, but my dad wont allow me till i finish me 150 pages Bio test ,that means till tomorrow sadly
-
150 pages a day?man,I should take lessons
Hmm,all this talk made me reconsider. I might just get the game if it proves to be interesting. Will be nice on days off during summer work. -
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Incredible game. Played it on the 360. Beautiful combination of fps and rpg.
-
Doesn't look like anyone have answered the DRM questions yet.
They removed the periodic activations, so now you only have to authenticate online when you install it.
However, you're still limited to installing on three different PC's (or three PC upgrades).
So in effect, slightly stricter DRM than Bioshock (which, if memory serves, allowed 5 reactivations)
But not as strict as what they initially threatened with.
Personally, I'm gonna wait for a Steam version, which will hopefully have more reasonable terms. -
-
-
Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
The activation limit should be lifted in future patching.
-
i tried to get out of the house and bye the game but.. no good, dad is sitting at the garage
now he is asleep but i cant go buy it cause i still have 50 pages to go
-
If your wondering if your computer can run it check out system requirements lab:
http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest
it will scan your comp and tell you where you stand on the spectrum of "don't bother" to "your comp will eat it up". It has most games on there including mass effect. -
That site is mostly useless... there have been no less than 3 out of 3 times I have tried it it has told me I could not possibly run a specific game...
The result was I run 3 of 3 games just swimmingly.
they are 0 for 3... -
I'll be picking it up tomorrow, and I'll post detailed info on how my system runs it.
The DRM suite shouldn't matter to us notebook gamers.
I would wait for Steam, but the 12 gig download doesn't excite me much. -
EB/Gamestop is offering a download service on their website.
-
I'm willing to bet that cards (in notebooks) like 8600M GT / HD 2600 will run it @ 1200 x ??? with medium-high settings.
The system requirements aren't that high and games what are asking for even more powerful gpu/cpu set are running med-high on these cards. -
I have it installed, but the game keeps crashing. What gives?
-
if it has DRM, screw it. ill wait for a steam version
-
Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
On the box it says GF 7300, 7600, and 8500 and ATI x1300, x1300 pro,x1600 pro, and 2400/2600HD are below minmum requirements.
-
Well it says this in the documentation
"* ATI X1300 XT or better (X1300, X1300 Pro, X1600 Pro and HD2400 are below
minimum system requirements" -
The graphics card recommended requirements are slightly higher for the Witcher (Desktop 7900 GTX) but both should run at minimum with 6 series Nvidia cards, it's the processor requirement that really surprises me since the review since it's dual core optimised.
-
Luckily it's not just me. A lot of people with high powered machines are *****ing over on the Mass Effect forums about the game just crashing after you click play. I'm really frustrated.
-
Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
So far it seems to play fine for me, the cut scenes are jumpy though. I'm aware the readme doesnt list the 2600HD as unsupported, however the box sticker does. Good luck with it.
-
I was playing this on the xbox, about 5 hours into it when i got the dreaded red rings.... had to send the box in for repairs
in the meantime i've been dying for a decent pc game.... been playing UT3 online but it seems nobody is online that game? patched to 1.2
anyway, definitely pick this game up if it runs decent and isn't too buggy. I loved it up until my xbox died. I still may pick it up on the PC, drm or not.... just want to hear about how it'll run on my rig first (i'm guessing all high, don't want another crysis on my hands
