Update, I played through some of the first mission (unfortunately I have to work on this project for a while tonight
). My first impressions are good. I ran it on 1366x768 on a 9500m GS and in the tamer areas (aka the 'HUB' area) it runs on medium (high textures) at a good 25-30 FPS. I haven't tested it in high action areas, but I'd guess 10-20 FPS, based on the first mission. Lowering textures to medium, and/or lowering the resolution to 1280 x 7xx I'd hope to get a higher FPS. I'll try it and report my findings. During the space segments, the FPS can lower to 12, but its not that important since there's no gameplay at those points. The graphical style is very reminiscent to Oblivion. Does anyone know if the grain effect would lower FPS? Because while being nice, I'd rather have an additional FPS boost rather than the graininess.
I played through ~80% on the 360 and I have to say on the 9500m GS the quality is not too far under the console version. I'm very pumped.
-
I installed it on my NC8430 and it's running fine.
-
I really want to finish the Xbox version first. Plus I still need to get through the Splinter Cell games (only did the first 3 so far), the Prince of Persia games (only did the first 2), Season 2 of Sam & Max, Indigo Prophecy, the rest of Bioshock, and I need to finish GTA3:SA.
Yeah...sooo...unless it pops up on Steam (which keeps my credit card nice and warm), than probably not... -

I thought a copy of MEPC would be available at my local EB Games for pick up -- wrong!
EB conveniently missed a shipment that just so happened to have contented -- surprise, surprise -- ordered copies of MEPC.
Dammit! -
actual benchmarks guys... not "it ran fine" or "it ran perfect"
-
I have it on running on medium settings on my NC8430 and I'm pleased with the game play. My setup is X1600 256 MB VRam, 3.5 GB of Ram and a Super Talent 120 GB SSD.
-
"Super Talent 120 GB SSD." i think this game likes such things

Well, I got the game later last night. Played through the first 30 minutes and I can say its exactly like the 360 version...which is good I suppose except for the new tactical hud. Also, I'm running it on my Asus G1s, which has a 2.2 Intel Memrom CPU, 2 gigs of RAM, and a 8600 GT DDR3... I'm running int on 1280x1024 on all high settings with dynamic shadows off, it runs pretty smoothly...however, I might lower the rez or turn some settings off to get the load time to be much much smaller. So far, so good.

Medium on a X1600? wow, so even my old NX9420 can play it..
I think it`s time to start playing RPGs -
waiting your feedback
-
good to hear it ran on nc8430, the boxed copy didnt come out in Canada until today so ill probably run down and buy it. I prefer to buy boxed versions because if I had 8 games to trade in id be buying a PS3 for $199.99 from EBGames right now
-
-
i know that, but i really would like to see some screens with min, max, avg FPS , i kinda get paranoid when a new game comes out, also get headaches at night thinking of it
-
You need to find a different hobby if you get paranoid when a new game comes out with headaches. That's a little extreme
-
i know so
, its just either studying or gaming..
-
Note: The picture may have a slight spoiler (hints at how the first mission ended).
Here's a pic with FPS marker.
I was able to play it more last night with the following settings on my sig laptop:
1440 x 900
Everything else on Medium
except High textures
Dynamic Shadows off
Ran the game with an average FPS of ~23 in the mission areas. I was happy because the minimum FPS didn't drop much at all from the average (~20), while the maximum went up to 30 (VSync on).
The best part is that the elevator rides (disguised loading times) are incredibly short! They actually make sense now! Other than the load in the beginning of the mission the only pauses due to loading that I noticed were never more than 5 seconds.Attached Files:

Screenies, or possibly a video on youtube. Should clear all doubts.
-
For peopl eusing ATI cards, what drivers are you using?
-
I'll try to get a FRAPs video out. Will be the second mission, so may have some spoilers (just block on the convo part of the screen
). Will hopefully be up by 10PM.

good news, i'll be waiting

I purchased Mass Effect yesterday and the game ran beautifully on my PC with maxed out settings (all high). I'm playing with an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66, 2GB of memory, and a Radeon HD 3850 video card. I don't know how to check the benchmarks or do screen captures though. But, my boyfriend and I sat down together during the opening credits and through some of the tutorial and he even said the game looks so much sharper than the 360 version. He also liked the improved inventory controls. Personally I had not played the 360 version first hand but watched him play some.
I forgot to mention that there was a registration code in the box. So, I'm not too sure if the whole DRM issue, etc is still going on and if so to what extreme. I was under the impression that the game was to be verified online once and the user got 3 installs on separate PCs/hardware and unlimited installs on those 3 PCs/hardware upgrades. But, I don't recall my internet being accessed at any time and if so I didn't experience any system slow down during install or during gameplay. -
good news there, i'll be getting it soon enough
-
I suppose that it won't be running so nicely on an 8400m GS huh
-
-
well, it takes up to like 5 minutes (rarely) to load up on the title screen. Otherwise, its pretty fast for inside loading screens
-
brainer you seem so concerned about how other people will get this to run on their setup, when you obviously know that your system will eat it up! lol
-
I was just going to say so... your 7950GTX SLI will have very little correlation with my system, and I can guarantee that you'll be able to play it much more smoother and on higher visuals than me. But I'll still try to post something, so people waiting with ~8600's will be able to see how it runs.
Also, with the 5 minute loading screen issue. I think that only happens the first time you boot it up. After that it never took more than a couple minutes. -
Will somebody post screens already ?
-
i'm really getting pissed off now! and @ Dire NTropy, i'm a kind of guy who has lots of worries when it comes to gaming. 1 FPS could make the difference for me ^^ , on the other hand, your CPU is better than mine, thats whats giving me the creeps.
-
Haha, chill man. I can't really post screenies/FRAPS while I'm at work
. I'll get home around 8 then I'll try to get something up. Worst case scenario will be tomorrow at the same time.
And while the computer requirement is very high, I'm pretty sure that my GPU is still the bottleneck. -
alright, i think i can wait, gonna study the 150 pages maths exam this time -.-

Lethal Lottery Notebook Betrayer

i can max it at 1440x900, no hiccups, I will add it to the 8800m GTS benchmark thread later
-
Finally. Screenies

Has somebody with the DDR2 variety of the 8600M GT played this yet? I don't need to run at high settings, but it would be nice to have 20+ FPS at 1280x800.
-
-
I just installed it and ran it for a while. Played the first mission until a little from the end.
Looks amazing, for my Macbook Pro, 1280x800/high runs at ~20 to ~25. I overclocked my 8600 to 600/880.
I love the film grain and motion blur.
Great game! -
Clip will be on youtube tomorrow because uploading takes multiple hours and I want to play more mass effect
