Looks like Crytek is tossing PC gamers a bone with their upcoming 1.9 patch.
Important DX11-related stuff as follows:
-
saturnotaku Notebook Nobel Laureate
-
These are all things that should've been included from the beginning. It really sucks that it became normal to release and sell incomplete/unfinished software.
-
I see some MP fixes in the changelog, but sadly its to late. D:
Most of the playerbase have moved to newer games.
Not to worry, il try replaying Crysis 2 on Dx 11 mode and see how stressed my HD 6970m will be. hehe -
Too ;ate Crytek, all that stuff should have been on the release version. Now everyone has already played through the SP campaign and those who likes the MP have gotten over it, so whats the point. It does not even offer re playability for the campaign like Crysis 1 so why now?? I mean how hard would it have been to delay the release of the game and release it with all this stuff. It does not matter anymore, though i really liked the game Crytek failed Crysis 1 with this, but it was in no way a bad game, but after Crysis 1 my expectations were really high.

The MP is already dead, so what's the point?
-
SP is still fun. Would be nice to see dx11 support.
Maybe this will resurrect MP. -
-

I've never seen a game's MP resurrected after the fact unless it was released as free-to-play.
-
Good. Now I'll buy it, when it hits $20 or less.

Interesting for sure, but kind of pointless for laptops. Most notebooks, not including SLI and Crossfire configs, can barely handle Crysis 2 maxed out without DX11. And from my experience DX11 based games slaughter even the 485M and 6970M (think Metro 2033 and Dragon Age 2, not even close to playable at max settings @1080p). Better fire up those overclocks.
-
Not much use for me. All my system (m17x r1 dual 280's) can handle is DX10. My hope is that Wasdie updates his tool to the new 1.9 patch. Unless, Crytek is going to add all the adjustable advanced graphics features that his program does. Makes a HUGE difference to the game.

I dont see any fix for incorrect login details using the mycrysis account. I still havent been able to play a game I spent $60 on since the game was released months ago.
-
I hate you Cytek!! DIAF!! I hope you choke on...
**goes to download DX11 patch**
Damn it's fun being a hypocrite. -
I put off playing Crysis 2 until this patch comes out... it's nice to be really busy sometimes
. I get to experience single player as it was meant to be. I really liked the multiplayer demo for a while but it grew stale quickly and from what I hear it's gotten worse... is this true?
-
Hopefully I can disable AA and a bunch of the other useless effects so I can run the game decently on my 5730 in a resolution higher than 1024x600. Any PC game needs to have fully customizable graphics from the start.
-
To disable AA in a definitive way, just delete any registry related to temporal AA, like I did. But it still seems to have traces of temporal AA...
The settings that are useless and SHOULD have an option to be disabled, are : SSAO, Post MSAA, FSAA, MLAA, TAA, Motion Blur... And all other useless, heavy Post Processing stuff... -

5730 should be able to fair bit better than 1024x600. My 4670 plays fluidly at 1024x768 with everything set to extreme
turn stuff down a notch and with OC can run 1680x1050 smoothly too.
Considering you have enough processor power and a card noticeably faster than mine you should be able to do at least as well ?
As for dx11 effects. Bet half the stuff works in dx 10 modebring on the hacks!
-
By fluidly, how many FPS you say? -
And now drop the price to 10$ or so then I'll MAYBE buy it. Just because I did like CrySis(1).

Got to sit in an airport overnight tonight so gonna give it another run through -
Can you post your GPU-z screenshot please?
Damn, sitting in an airport is super boring... Which one are you on? -
I got mah trusty gaming kit for them travels.
PSP Go with emulators and free PSN+ crap and to replace the retired DS, 3DS with Ocarina of Time. <3 -
Haha!
Eagleson, you have Crysis 2. Crysis 2 1.9 & Hi-res/DX11 patch are out. Can you please DL them and tell me the new advanced settings in the menu? Can you configure/choose which DX11 effects can be enabled/disabled?

I can't do screenie now as the lappie is packed ready for my travels but can assure you it is a genuine OC. Thanks to my rather crazy cooling even at that clock in crysis 2 with everything on extreme and 1024x768 I have never seen it top 56C(gpuz running in backround)
Sitting in Gatwick airport tonight outside London. -
I believe you, I don't need proof if it's or not a genuine OC lol, I just wanted to compare the bandwidth and the fillrates
Well, consider yourself lucky that you're in the Gatwick airport... You WOULDN'T want to be in the Cyprus airport lol... I was once there, and my God it's terrible...
-
Il post the intel shortly, but im not expecting any miracles. -
https://secure.mycrysis.com/sites/default/files/support/download/c2_dx11_ultra_upgrade.pdf <- Nice PDF from Crytek explaining all DX11 features and DX11/DX9 comparison. Also tells about the new advanced sys configs. Apparently, Motion Blur can be lowered! ( or disabled!
)
Here's all the info I needed ^_^
Thank God tesselation and POM is separate from other DX11 effects... I will still try to find a command to enable RLR remotely. -
didn't work for me, crashes after turning on directx 11, now the damn thing don't even start, meh, we couldn't expect miracles from crytek, do we?
any one else having this issue? -
Maybe its Crossfire related?
Downloading all the extra crap just for Dx11 reminds me of Dragon Age 2 launch. D: -
Already tried with crossfire disabled
-
Testing Crysis 2 v1.9 Dx11 with High Resolution Textures with all settings at Ultra, Motion Blur disabled at 1280x720.
Maybe this time it will strain the system. xD -
Motion Blur can be disabled?! YES!!!!!
Now I only need to have SSAO, SSDO, Post MSAA and Edge AA disabled. -
Still the same lame selection of settings, but at least with Dx11 and the higher resolution textures it doesent look like the Xbox 360 game.
During the Submarine part at the start i was hovering around 45fps to 60fps with random spikes up to 70fps.
Never goes below 30fps.
Not that i would play Crysis 2 on Ultra, it looks too wierd. D:
Lighting just looks all fake, i mean i would acepted it if it where some sunny tropical island but it doesent look good in a cityscape.
Final conclusion?
This is how Crysis 2 should have been released.
Dident check MP but its probably just as bad as the other patches. -
The other settings can be configured with the console
How do your FPS compare with DX9? Is it worth to have DX11 enabled?
What do you mean with "fake lighting"? I don't get it
Do you have skype? -
I hate that useless crap.
But what i mean with fake lighting is that its just to unatural.
Il take some screenies and upload here, so stay cool everyone.
Edit: Here is the screenies i hastly put together.
(Catalyst Suite was set to Optimal Quality to stop visual "cheating")
http://www.mediafire.com/?3g2izdn6t3eaes5
While i know it aint the best spot to take screenies, i am in a bit of hurry since im suppose to be in bed now. :3
Got work tomorrow and i dont want to come late and get the rage from my boss.
Once i find a better place il remake them.
Until then feast on the Tesselation on pic 12. -
You can really see the different with the DX 11 ultra. What resolution are you running the game at? What fps do you get with it? Thank!!
-
I ran Crysis 2 in Dx11 on Ultra preset with High Resolution Textures enabled.
I did disable Motion Blur as i cannot stand that at all. D:
I played at 1280x720, with AMD Catalyst set to Optimal Quality.
FPS never got below 30, but im sure some tweakage could make it run at 60fps at 1920x1080.
If i set Catalyst to Performance mode you get to see the visual cheating both AMD and Nvidia does and while if does give extra frames its not worth it.
(At least for me.) -
How would this game perform on the 5650 (OC'd to 650/950)? Will it perform worse than the original Crysis? Would running the game in DX11 (but without DX11-only effects) give better performance than DX9?
-
Yet to try Crysis 1 on my laptop, i will actually try it today, but i should imagine it should run better than Crysis 1 as it's not as optimised.
Not tried DX11, but i should imagine it would take a performance hit running in DX11. -
-
Tesselation is the killer. xD
Switching between Dx9 and Dx11 dident kill the framerate all that much.
Running 710 Core and 1000 Memory here, but i can go higher with TriXX if needed. -
Tessellation is the killer...?
*sad face*
The ony ultra setting I'll use is objects, rest will be high -
Just recorded myself running Crysis 2 Dx11 Maxed Settings on my desktop in sig.
YouTube - Crysis 2 Massive DirectX 11 Update Maxed Settings Ultra Multiplayer Gameplay Map Sanctuary 1080p HD‏ -
-
I used PlayClaw (Fraps alternative) to measure my fps, since i dont know the console command myself. xD
-
steam download the dx9 patch on its own, then i downloaded the dx11 and hi-res texture patches from the net and double clicked them,
game runs fine on my powernotebooks sager np8150 2720qm 6970m, looks a little better, maybe 10-20%,
crysis 1 still looks better, and plays better,
no saving in crysis 2, can't skip horrible cut scenes, can't skip horrible logo screens at the beginning, even when you alt-tab out of crysis 2 the logo screen or cut scene freezes and waits for you to return,
looking forward to remaking crysis 1 maps in crysis 2 for comparison -
Massive Crysis 2 patch due soon - will add DX11 support & more
