I'm going to be doing some thermal mods in the next couple of days and, in order to compare data, need to use some reliable stress test programs.

I'm looking for maximum usage and maximum temperature. I used to think furmark was good for GPU...but after getting higher temps of about 3-4c while playing stalker clear sky, my faith in it has been shaken. I'm not sure if that has to do with my cpu being used during gaming though, not sure if furmark stresses the cpu, as i suppose a hotter cpu would give me a hotter gpu.

Same with orthos. After using prime my cpu got about 3-4c hotter than with orthos.

any idea what I should use to get an accurate idea of my MAX temperatures? thanks

Did you use extreme burning mode on Furmark? I've never seen my GPU temps go higher than with Furmark.

Yup, I sure did. I only had my AA at 8x though, I'm not sure if it needs to be at 16x. That could also be the problem, I suppose. I'm not sure If I checked post-processing either...I think I did though. Below are the settings I used.

Hopefully I made a mistake with my settings. Again I'm not sure about the post processing.

If you wanna toast the CPU you wanna be using intelburntest, it does in 8mins what prime95 does in 40 hours, seriously watch ya temps.

Apparently peoples GPUs are toasting themselves playing Startrek Online, their are massive amounts of complaints in the tech forum, id say give that a try lol.

rofl, that's pretty funny. The star trek part.

I tried furmark again...enabled post processing and 16x AA, reported the same temps as stalker gave me. I guess I didn't have the proper settings. Good to know furmark is reliable though, good for my benchmarks.

Now onto CPU. Could it be I was using the wrong setting there too? I used the default, blend. SHould I be using Large TTFs? thats what I used in prime, and it got much hotter.

Seriously their are tons of complaints blaming the game for damaged hardware, peoples ignorance amazes me lol, even the devs have made a post explaining how to clean ya GFX card lol.

As mentioned use the program ive posted a link to, select maximum stress or custom and set your ram, select the number of threads and click start.

On my machine for some reason, FURMARK with no AA gets the GPU quite a bit hotter than with 8xAA, haven't tried 16AA, but is definitely hotter without AA versus 8AA for what that's worth.

Odd i didn't find startrek did toooo much lol.

Furmark with no AA, i agree with that! i've found AA seems to demand more, and knock of frames from somewhere else lol.

Hmm well those cards run pretty hot in general.

SO, I guess prime is the best stress test then, large TTF's. Anyone disagree?

I guess I could always use STO, the new standard in stress testing. $15 a month for stress testing is a bit much =p

Still looking for some help. I'm not sure which test to use orthos or prime, and rather, which setting to use to max out stress and heat.

run furmark in extreme burning mode with aa and run cpu stress program at the same time to get the real numbers
