Medal of Honor : Airborn

hey guys, moh:a was released today and i just wanted to start a thread about this game. has anyone purchased the full game yet? i really want to buy it but i want to make sure it is worth it - i love the demo but i want to be sure that this game is going to be worth while multiplayer... anyone that has purchased and played this game please give me a heads up on what you think of it and any multiplayer info you can provide...

im hoping that this game will be awesome online!

Also please tell us if the full game is open-ended. not looking forward to another scripted linear WWII shooter.

it SHIPS today, which means you can purchase it tomorrow. Unless you ordered it from wal-mart, they give their suppliers your address and they ship it directly.

The review I saw said it was on the short side and mostly mediocre.

 

gamespot gave it a 7.0 & IGN gave it 7.9.

so how is the game for people who purchased it? hows the multiplayer? how does it perform?

I had it at 1440x900 with everything on high and was getting about 25 fps. I would like to turn the resolution down but for some reason I can't figure out how without changing the whole resolution on my laptop. Anyone that owns it know how to do this? The EA boards won't let me log in for some reason

 

yeah, its pretty opinionated. some games they think are awesome i don't really like, and some games they don't rate well i love. but most of the time they are pretty spot on.

 

The only review site I trust now is gamespot.

will anyone make a nbr COD4 clan? that would be something i'm interested in.

 

The multiplayer is fun. they are supposed to add more content to it soon so that is what im hoping for.

 

It's not out yet so I guess we will decide when it actually does become available.

 

Yeah. Multiplayer is awesome. I love how they incorporated 3 of the old Allied Assault maps. Single player is good, it's just a tad bit short. But like jbannick18 mentioned, there are supposed to be more content soon. I'm definitely looking forward to that.

 

what was the other 2 maps? i know that they where doign the bombed out village

 

Destroyed Villaged, The Hunt, and Remagen

 

which one is the hunt? remagen is an amusing map, but smipers can pop you off when you spawn.

 

The Hunt was the one with the church by the axis spawn and the "street of death." Snipers would always did that trick jump to get on the roof of the church building. haha Good times. Hopefully that rings a bell.

 

i honestly can't remember it i will have a look when i go home.

i usually play 6 or 10 player stalingrad or village.

 

yeah, same here. I really miss that one map with the bridge in the middle that separated the axis from the allies. They was also an underground tunnel. It was an objective map where the axis had to blow the bridge. Can't remember the name of the map though.

I picked it up for the 360 and am really liking it. Sharp graphics with some neat gunplay mechanics make it a fairly good WWII game. I haven't tried it online yet, but I know it's 12 players. How many is it on the PC?

 

played the demo. the game is not really open ended. you can land anywhere yes, but so what? the objective is always the same and there only so many things u can do without commiting suicide so you end up landing int he roughly the same spots anyway.

graphics are good though. very atmopshereic shooter.........that seems to be the bussword in the industry.

but int he end a shooter is a shooter. mindless fun.

 

oh, i was getting confused between remagen and the bridge/crossroads.

 

Yeah. The Bridge/Crossroads would have been fun! I loved that level.

And as for the amount of players on the PC... Due to the fact that there is the ability of dedicated servers, hosts are able to extend the maximum amount of players in a game. I am not quite sure to what extent exactly, possibly 32, but we will definitely see here soon I'm sure.

 

is this game a good buy for someone looking to play multiplayer?

The 12 player limit is kind of weak on the 360 seeing as Call of Duty 3 did 24 and many others do at least 16. Oh well, the couple games I played online last night were still quite fun.

 

Yeah. The levels are not really all that big so the 12 person max works well.

 

I hear the 12 max is for a listening server (in which the server is not dedicated). But EA hasn't disclosed how much more a dedicated server would provide.

If MoHA can match the 64 player madness of MoHAA, I'd be all in for this game (if I could run it... SM 3.0 ='( )

 

Exactly. 12 max is for the non-dedicated servers. EA did say that they were opening it up to dedicated servers allowing hosts to get up to 32 players last I heard. But we'll see soon enough.
