I gave this another chance and I might say it's pretty good, however I got bored pretty fast with the 2 modes awailable and limited maps.
One thing that I hate is this game is almost identical to CoD series, there's no teamwork, there's no squad tactics, it's just run and shoot and hope to live. even if you wanted to do a squad run it would be pointless, because the game is pretty chaotic and it would be a waste of time.
That's my regret with the latest fps's coming out, I guess I got too used to bf2 and squad management and actual teamwork.
-
Yea it is difficult to find a team that actually does use teamwork. But I found one server today where everyone was working towards the objective and it was fun. The first beta I played I did not enjoyed too much, but I am liking this one much better. But I still don't think its worth 60 bucks...
-
yeah, $60 is just too much for fps game these days, at least for my pocket
-
Game really soes look incredible. Price point is average for a new game. But with multiplayer, dedicated server, and a good campaign, this has a lot of replay value. Maps should be bigger just from the ones I've played. I'd like to see more objective type maps as well.
-
Ho hum, looks like more of the same. But if the single player game is epic like MW I'll fork over $40 max.
-
This game's got ridiculous amounts of bloom.
-
Just played it for about half an hour and here's my first impressions:
have to admit, not a fan of the game mode i played today. i dunno what the mode is called, but its essentially the same thing as Rush for BC2. My two biggest gripes are 1) very dull, drab environments where the uniforms of both sides blend in with the rocky environment, and 2) waaaay too narrow of paths. there weren't really any ways to sneak around to the back of a base, like in BC2.
ill give it another go, but that first dose wasn't really that great at all -
spradhan01 Notebook Virtuoso
Looks like I need to spend on Black ops than MOH.
I am not really impressed with the details and environment.
I wish the colors were more vivid as well as the environment with rich physx. -
I played the first beta for like twenty minutes then proceeded to uninstall. However, I'm not going to lie, I am actually really enjoying this one. I think it is a lot of fun. I'm sure they will work out all the bugs and everything. I hated bad company 2 when it came out and now with all of the patches it's one of my favorites.
-
Well I wish I could play without an annoying lag. I am getting great FPS on medium/high settings on my native reso Asus G51, but every 5 seconds or so I get what feels like a lagg out. No other games are making this happen to me, not even BC2. I literally just get a lagged out feeling and then rubberband backwards and I usually get killed.
I can't find anyone else reporting this error in the forums, and have been messing around with the settings to no avail. Anyone have any ideas? -
That's weird Talon. I played for an hour or so and experienced nothing of that sort. The only thing I can complain about is how when you shoot an rpg you don't or at least I didn't even see anything come out and when I killed someone it just looked like rag dolls.
-
Well now I've found about 4 other guys reporting the issue, but nobody has any ideas, and I'm lost here. One thing I noticed was that when I went to install steam recommended I defrag the files because they were fragmented? These guys also seem to be reporting it had them do that as well. I may try and redownload the game.
-
My steam also suggested defrag and I did it before running the game, however I'm not getting any lag whatsoever. I'm in Asus g71gx btw
-
Well I just reinstalled, and still experiencing these lagging/rubber banding issues... I'm so upset because I was actually looking forward to seeing the improvements to the closed beta. From what I've been able to play it seems to be much better than the closed beta, but I can't really enjoy the game if I continue to have these issues. Its a shame cause I had a best buy gift card and was planning on picking this one up. But If I can't fix this before the beta closes, there is no way I'm going to chance getting it retail. Also I never had any issues with the closed beta, heh go figure.
-
Freezing/Lagging Problem fixed, I forced DX10 in the config file, and now all seems good!!!
Edit:
After changing the config file from DX - Auto to DX - 10 I also have gotten a rather large boost in FPS! Now I'm averaging 60-100fps. The game looks and runs great on my G51. -
still cant find it fun for more than 20-30 mins at a time...the game modes they have here are kind of boring without many ways to wind around the enemy. sorry MoH, but im going with Black Ops.
time to uninstall the beta -
-
what a bore...
-
nuttin to do in that beta anymore, gets boring extremely fast, at least bc2 beta had more content, more classes, usable vehicles, bigger maps, this one is booooring
Hope the end product has a lot more content, then I might spend money on it, but so far no bite -
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
There is just no way the product is worth $60. I didn't find it fun at all.
Modern Warfare 2, for all it's flaws, was at least fun (or at least it used to be before everyone went super explosives heavy)
The complex leveling up system, broken spawning system, and a variety of broken gameplay mechanics (m203's everywhere!) detract from what otherwise might be better than just a mediocre shooter. -
spradhan01 Notebook Virtuoso
I am really getting pissed off with the color of environment and the characters.
Its so similar and hard to figure out the difference.
Also, I feel the game is already hacked. There is a guy who just doesn't die. Most of the matches, he gets like 12-20/0.
I don't know if he is really good or a cheat is working in the back. -
I have mixed feelings towards the game right now. I am really enjoying the gameplay, but most of that I feel like I am a lone ranger taking on an entire army. The sniper is way way seems to be slightly overpowered, because with the M21 I am able to just own. I find myself just taking cover, and picking off enemy targets at will. This has been fun for the few hours I've played so far, but I can see it getting old eventually.

The other issue is BLOOM! I am thinking they should change the name to " BLOOM OF HONOR"...
StevenX -
edit: nevermind. i found it. -
I like the game. While I agree that the Beta promotes a sit and shoot mentality, I think that will change in the actual game when more cohesive groups play and use better tactics as well as different maps. So far, the most common tactic I see used by most beta players is run up to the top of a hill, stand there for a nano second and then get picked off by a hidden sniper. No wonder snipers are just sitting and shooting.
Bronsky -
I found the "snow mountain" level to be pretty fun. Having to keep destroying a base in order to advance while the enemy defends is where the fun was at for me. I didn't like the small capture the flag map. As far as characters looking the same, that's the way bf has always been. They are soldiers so they are going to be wearing the same uniform, lol.
I think once the final version comes out there will be more big maps too.
Best strategy is for the offensive team to throw smoke...then advance.
Be nice to see the bc2 maps transfer over to moh. -
I played. What a trash game in terms of the beta. I was getting wrecked. You know why? Because I don't like boring gameplay, everyone is camping up high and when you get someone from one camp spot, another guy kills you. It's just plain stupid. I tried to camp, and to no avail, I got sniped from the other campers. I don't understand what's so fun about sitting there, and probably getting 2 or 3 kills a minute. I'd rather get 5 kills a game and 30 deaths rushing while someone might go 30 and 2 camping the foshizzle outta the other team. though I did have some 25+ kill games when nobody was camping.

So who's gonna buy this crap of a game?
I played the BETA and I was appalled at the poor gameplay. It feels like an absolutely ordinary, Bad Company 2 version of Modern Warfare 2. The maps are tiny with chokepoints so bad that most games end up being campfests. The sniper rifles are one shot kills anywhere, the M16 is fully automatic, and all the guns have no recoil.
Seriously, it's like a step backwards from Bad Company 2 even though it uses the same engine and just uses some new textures and sounds. I can't see anyone paying $60 for this except the console guys who are used to ponying up $60 for a game with a lifespan of less than six months.
Aside from being absolutely boring, this game should not be the type of game we expect to bear the MoH name. This game belongs in 2005 not 2010. -
spradhan01 Notebook Virtuoso
I really expect the color of characters to be little vivid so that one can figure out.
-
Wow there's a lot of bad comments already! While I haven't played the demo, the comments are all pretty similar. I'm guess I'll wait for CoD: Black Ops.

The real bonus to buying the Limited Edition of the game (either pc/360/ps3) is to get early access to the BF3 beta next year. That's the main reason I am doing it.
Otherwise I would probably wait for it to go onsale at Fry's or something.
Thanks,

Besides, I disagree with the fact that they are basically making us pay $60 to get access to a BETA that is probably more than a year away. I think BF2 veterans should be given first access to the BETA, not people who dish out $60 for MoH. Which is essentially freaking extortion since MoH is such a terrible game (at least the MP). -
spradhan01 Notebook Virtuoso
Today the beta is being over.
So you guys wanna buy this game?
I am really getting confused in getting either COD BO or MOH?
What you wanna get if you are looking for one only? -
I would probably wait for COD BO. I had fun with MOH but it gets kind of boring. Also, there is hardly no custumization in MOH and read that there will be ton for BO. I would wait and see, that way you can choose between the two when both are out.
-
spradhan01 Notebook Virtuoso
The servers are down now.
Now waiting for get hands on full version. -
At least in MOH the environment is better, explosions, mortar fire actually looks more realistic. COD is just a bit too arcade like to me. Still think Cod4 was the best out of that franchise, especially with servers that design their own maps. -
What MOH and BC2 seem to lack is a hardcore mode. They should make a hardcore mode where it will only take 1-3 rounds to kill an enemy. I think this would give the campers / snipers a bit of an advantage however which is maybe why EA is hesitant in adding this...but nonetheless, it still would be a great feature to have and I think a favorite for most people that play the game.
Another gripe is that the sound silencers produce seem a bit loud. I think EA should quiet them down a bit.
Graphics are superb even with the 5870m so I can't complain there. Very good looking game IMO. -
Actually bc2 has hardcode mode, that's the only thing I play as bc2 regular takes forever to kill an enemy. You even have a checkbox for hardcode when looking for servers

@Turmoil - just higher damage from weapons. It doesn't take an entire clip to kill someone. The bad thing about HC is that snipers run wild since even the lower power, higher ROF guns can cause major havoc.
That's the saving grace of non-hc is that many guns the sniper has to get a head shot or upper body shot to kill. If it's the lower power gun then it takes several shots to kill you. So, non-hc prevails most of the time.

i hate the snipers in BC2... unlike in COD , u just don't know what hits u.. i think i'll wait for this game to come out and see how it is... just got BC2 last month so i'll keep playing it...
-
1) No aiming reticule
2) Weapons cause more damage resulting in the 2-3 shot kills
3) No minimap showing you where everyone is
4) No little triangles over everyones head telling you where people are
Hardcore mode is the only mode I use: pumping half a clip into someone's chest and not killing them just doesn't make sense to me! (and i'm not talking about the bad hitregs, although that is probably a factor anyways)

Anyone going to the game releases tonight at your local gamestop? Or if you pre-ordered is it already downloading on steam? Thanks, StevenX
-
I debating if I should get the game because I am more interested in the single player campaign. I do have a $20 dollar off coupons for kmart, but they don't sell any PC games :[

1st one outta the local gamestop store. 1st in line and the console kids were mad... The mgr said "pc guy first in line man you guys are slacking". Installing now...
Hope it's worth it.

Mine is coming from Amazon unfortunately and won't get here until tomorrow.
-
-
I wonder how many maps and how many different modes there is.
-
stevenxowens792 Notebook Virtuoso
I haven't had a chance to play single player yet. Only multiplayer. The maps are gorgeous. Much better than my initial impression. This one map called Digiwali village is so cool. The pottery and details.. just amazing.
Thanks, StevenX
