I have been playing Total War- Medeival Times on/off for a few years. Recently since DirectX 9 has become standard it won't work. In order to keep it from crashing I'm supposed to rollback to 8.1 to run properly.... Is there no way to patch it or fix it to run without reverting back to the past?

I've been playing Rome Total War without issue on my HEL80. Are you currently patched up to date?

Sometimes there is an issue with Dual Core processors that a patch will fix.

It worked great for me when I last played it. (In DX9.0c)

However, I read somewhere that the recent Total War Eras bundle included patches with proper support for modern systems. (Not sure what that entailed, because as I said, it works fine for me without any special patches, and I only have the regular game)

Anyway, have you installed all the patches for the game?

Or just wait 2 days and buy MTW2 :)

    Patches eh?

I looked around gamespot and the activision and sega sites but I must have missed the patches... I looked for updates but never saw anything.

Go to the official game website.

The patches need to be installed in order. Make sure you read through the official website for instructions on that. I'm quite sure you'll be OK once you have the patches installed.

You may need to reinstall the game though if you corrupted the files with the patch.
