hi !
was hanging around the net and found this :
Metal Gear Online To Be Included In Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, PC Version Confirmed | DSOGaming | The Dark Side Of Gaming
-
Yea like since summer it is confirmed. They didn't confirm if it is going to be simultaneously released with console versions though (still I think it will)
-
Cant wait for ground zeros...I wanna see the how the PC version port is!
-
I think Kojima is taking his sweet time to make the PC port good.
-
it's coming out in a few hours on steam but there's no price for it so
EDIT: played a few minutes of it on my AW17 and it's pretty (more like really) smooth: solid 60fps on mostly high settings.Last edited: Dec 18, 2014 -
High settings or MAXed out ?
-
sorry, it's not phantom pain it's Ground zeroes

I am uploading a video of it running with maxed out settings and I will edit this post when it has finished uploading.

it seems that the following settings will cause the fps to drop...
1) model detail
2) screen filtering
3) effects
i'd keep those at high and everything else to very high. -

fox engine is great
best engine so far if you ask me.I put SSAO on high and everything other on extra high and i mostly on 30fps with no drops below 25 with my 760M OC.Too bad they dont more games on this engine
-
much better when it's 60fps.

i like the vram usage in this engine.I dont know why they listed 4gb vram as minimum cause for max settings it uses 1.7gb vram.I agree with you that 60fps feels more fluid and the lost in visual isnt too much but the lighting is downgraded a lot by putting it on high
-
the 3 settings i mentioned will affect the fps most so dropping them to high and probably just keep lighting on very high and it should be ok.
-
Still, how are we supposed to understand the story of MGS if we dont have access to the 3rd and 4th episodes ?
-
PS3 are pretty cheap these days.
-
not in my country
-
or you can just use something called Google to do some research and just read up on the story.

The beginning of Ground Zeroes pretty much explains what's been going on up to this point. Plus you can select 'backstory' in the menu which provides additional information about what's happened. Obviously this is assuming you will be buying and playing it for PC now that it's out.
-
Play != Read the story on google
Anyway, it was more a complain about not making a Remaster of MGS 3/4 on PC.. -
MGS 1, 2, 4 are all set after ground Zeroes and after Phantom pain.... Like way after. So in terms of story chronological order you really only missed out on MGS3 and Peace walker. I wouldn't worry about MGS 1,2,4 at this point.sasuke256 likes this.

Thanks ! Gonna watch MGS3 Walkthrough on YT !
-
All the mgs games seem to stand up fine on their own. I've only played 2 and 4 to completion. I started the first one but never finished it.
-
so if you want the complete game list by story chronology it's...
MGS3
Peacewalker
MGS5:GZ
MGS5
P
Metal Gear (for the MSX)
Metal Gear 2: solid snake (snake's revenge was not an official sequel as it was made without kojima's permission)
MGS1
MGS2
MGS4
MGR:Revengeance -
MGR Revengenance was epic.. Bes Hack/Slash game I've played other then ninja gaiden which won't ever come to PC... Can't wait for Phantom pain.. I'd love to get ground zeroes but can't justify the price tag for now!
-
i do remember they did release MGS2 substance on PC but I lent out my copy and never got it back

I think metal gear V is looking like true GOTY potential it already has the best optimization award in my book and with incredible story, cool gadgets, and even a multiplayer mode I think this is the one to beat. The only thing I want for this is 3d compatibility with tridef and im set.

just over 2 weeks left....oh man!
-
I still have my copy, IIRC it works fine on Windows 8.1 too!
-
You forgot Ops in between 3 and Peacewalker.
Wow is this a somewhat old thread. -
Anything after 5 I won't count as canon.

Originally Kojima said that the storyline in Ops was canonical, however looks like he changed his mind (probably for MGS5)
http://metalgear.wikia.com/wiki/Metal_Gear_Solid:_Portable_Ops -
i don't mean in story order i mean if kojima is not attached to the game then it's not canon. so anything released after MGSV/5 is not canon in my mind.
-
For those of you who bought an Nvidia GPU from Newegg when the Arkham Knight bundle was out, you may be able to get Phantom Pain for no charge. Just click the link to learn how.
Or you can get a $60 gift card from other retailers. -
30gb for the game is ok....much better than GTAV.

Yup. These days you would hope that every game takes only 30GBs of space...TomJGX likes this. -

Thinking about getting this but I'm waiting to see if this is going to be playeable on a 860m with reasonable quality settings (1080P, 30 FPS, high low to medium quality settings)
-
If you have ground zeroes already then you pretty much have an idea.

looks like the unlock time for the NA east coast has been updated - less than 3 hours now...and i bet the first 5-10 of them will be people downloading the damn game.
-
West Coast, installing now
Started game, connecting to Server - Server is in Maintenance mode - starting in Offline mode.
Fun stuff, some freezes, power cycle reboot, disabled OC/tuning, at defaults, still freezes, checked for new Nvidia driver - yup - downloading 355.82, clean install, rebooted, trying MGS V again...
No more freezes, full speed ahead

What? No keyboard/mouse control? WTF!? So another crappy PC port then.

Maybe they will add it later. If not, that is indeed a stupid move.
Wonder if it has yoke support

Never mind, Options => Key Assignments (Keyboard/mouse) is last item in Options list, first item is "Controller Type", sorry about that

So how is this game? From a non-fan boy. To me, MGS ended with 4. I really don't know how the plot could move forward after 4.
Shows what I know - 5 seconds of google and it appears to be a prequal. -
Who releases a game today without keyboard/mouse support???
