Finally, there is some new info on the upcoming Metro 2033 sequel, Metro : First Light!

    <param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/8lVXjyahIEY?fs=1&amp;hl=pt_PT"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/8lVXjyahIEY?fs=1&amp;hl=pt_PT" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width='560' height="349" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

Here is a video containing only the gameplay sequences :

    <param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/GfuHUKPAjdc?fs=1&amp;hl=pt_PT"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/GfuHUKPAjdc?fs=1&amp;hl=pt_PT" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width='560' height="349" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

Notice 0:29 on the 2nd video, they clearly have used lots of terrain tesselation. I guess we, under-5850 GPU users, are pretty much screwed @ DX11...

Here is a couple of new info : E3 2011: Metro Last Light Aims to Fix Metro 2033 - Xbox 360 Preview at IGN. Yay for MP and bug fixing :D

Altough they say they are going to push hardware, if they put advanced settings, I think in my experience, I will be able to squeeze 20-30 FPS @ 1080p with only textures and objects maxed, rest on low ( except lighting effects like light shafts, which will be enabled and medium shading but without SSAO and other shading stuff) and everything disabled ( specially Post Processing ).

If they maintain the same settings, we will only be able to squeeze 30 FPS with normal-low settings @ 1080p.

The engine ( 4A Engine ) seems to be pretty much the same though, with only some texture perfections and added terrain tessellation.

I'm very confused as to how devs today are touting their next game as "the poster child for high-end gaming PCs" (BF3 is guilty of this too), but they'll still be making them available on consoles? Doesn't that sort of contradict yourself?

For example, the original Metro 2033 was built for all 3 platforms. Being very optimized for PC doesn't mean it cannot be a console game. They simply first code to PC and then port it to PS3/X360.

well, it was just the PC and xbox360 :p 4A devs had a nice interview somewhere talking about platform differences on a HW level.

I'd probably be more interested in this if I could actually finish Metro 2033...damn game is bugged or something. I keep dying because I run out of gas mask filters, and I haven't been able to buy them in any stores for a long time, and I can't pick up filters from dead bodies and stashes. Like, I've literally choked to death outside while surrounded by filters that I, for whatever reason, cannot interact with. :/

    Yar :)

The reason why they didn't actually sell for the PS3 is becsuse it was kind of expensive to optimize. Therefore, they build on the PC, and pirted to the xbox. But they coupd've had it for PS3 too ;)

Coding/porting for PS3 is generally considered quite difficult compared to PC and Xbox 360. The PS3's Cell CPU is nothing like any desktop processor in terms of architecture, while the 360's Xenon processor is a lot closer to a standard tri-core desktop CPU, although PowerPC processors haven't really seen much mainstream use since Apple made the switch to Intel.

Another thing that looks great is the new weapons, The bolt action rifle and the somewhat AK 74 looking assault rifle with the what looks to be a silencer and the flare gun like revolver! And the new monsters, and the ones coming out of the cocoon looks to be a real pain : )
