Since Last Light is close, THQ is giving away metro 2033 for free.
First go to the facebook app and like the page, don't download "metro2033.exe" YET!
Now go to "http://freemetrogame.com/" and the code instantly appears on facebook without the download!
Oh, there's also a new trailer for Metro Last Light
ENJOY!

-
Awesome!! got it with the THQ Bundle though
-
Awesome!!! Im hoping my new desktop will be able to handle it...

Stoked for Last Light
I hope it runs well on the 7970m. -
Does anyone know if I can save the .exe and the redeem code and install it on another computer in few weeks?
-
Good for a free game.
-
@ AboutThreeFitty thats exactly what i am hoping. From what Mobius posted, I think it is possible
-
Follow my OP guide. It will directly give you the code that you can activate at any time.
-
Thanks Mobius for mentioning this!! Did this last night. Hoping my laptop can run it.
-
-
hahah I thought the same thing. It didn't occur to me to check steam until about 5 minutes into downloading the executable.
Played it a bit last night and the story seems really interesting, I wanna get into it. The only thing is, it's running a bit laggy for me =(. First game on my laptop that I can't run high or med-high settings on. Graphics customization on it seems to be non-existent as we're stuck with the presets they already have for it...unless i'm missing something? -
Disable advanced physx, and go to DX11 options to disable DOF and one other setting.
Run at 1280x720, no AA, and 16x AF.
Hope this helps -
that particular app doesn't work no more, this link you used second does: http://freemetrogame.com/
which is linked to this app: https://www.facebook.com/MetroVideoGame/app_395840630491782 -
there is an in-game benchmarking tool in Metro 2033, it's pretty cool. You could change resolution and gfx setting before benchmarking.
..by the way, I bought Metro 2033 last year for $20at a local shop near my place (EBGames/Gamestop).
-
Yup just save the code and put it into steam! Works great and awesome game! Now I just need my desktop finished... LOL
-
-
-
exactly
-
Is there a workaround if you do not want or have a FB account? TIA
-
yep there giving away free copys of the game on facebook for liking the page

Um....AWESOME!
-
Nice find champ!!!!
-
Yep. Picked it up a couple days ago by way of this deal. Nice!!!
Surprised that even with an i7 3920xm, and dual 680's, it still doesn't run all that great cranked up. Unoptimized? -

Metro 2033 certainly is a system killer....truly the mother of all games to run maxed out as even high end desktops can struggle with it completely maxed out.
-
So the question shifts to "Can it run 2033" instead of "Can it run Crysis"?
-
Oh yeah; definitely. Crysis, the orig, can be run pretty well on high end systems. Metro??? Apparently not. Lol. Definitely a good looking game but, I seriously don't see why it's THAT hard on our systems???
Wonder if Crysis 3 will take the crown? -
Crysis 3 v Metro: Last Light
-
does metro2033 have active multiplayer servers?
-
My GTX 460M ran Metro 2033 in 2011 at 1080p, Normal gfx setting, DX11, No DOF. Averaged 30-70 fps no v-sync. With slight OC.
..Artium !! -
-
I can't sleep at night if I play it damn
-
-
-
lets get the hype going people!! it is almost a month from now
-
-
I guess I am the only one really excited for Metro Last Light
(btw instead of creating a new thread for game, I wanted to use yours to save space)
-
Metro 2033 was ok. I feel like sometimes they substituted hordes of enemies for actual scary situations.
Definitely awesome for a free game, though. I thought it was a steal when I picked it up for $5 in a Steam sale. -

Great graphics, interesting premise, super atmospheric... what's not to love? -
Pre purchase on steam now

I loved the 2033. The best thing for me wasn't even the FPS part, but to go around and kinda experience this (linear) well made post-apocalyptic story.
Don't think I'll get Last Light soon though. I have some other games on my list I intend to get first, but am still very interested in the game. -
Same! Same reason I love Fallout to the soul
Bioshock infinite is also providing the same atmosphere right now, I love scenic kinda games

Damn it, release already!!
It will be amazing
-
The game is good except for the inability to mod it which combined with the relatively short SP game takes away from re playability. And of course, the complete lack of MP sucks.
Since I beat the game, I've had no desire to replay it although it was fantastic the first time through, it's not really the kind of game I will replay any time soon.
If they would have allowed modding the game would have been even more popular like the STALKER franchise. STALKER also had a longer SP mission and once the faction system came into play in the second and third game it had higher re playability.
I will play the new Metro once released but unless they allow modding or have MP, I will be waiting for it to reach the sub $20 mark.
Also, no matter how good a game is, having it be linear without any multi player is a good way to have a franchise go downhill fast unless you're talking about a game with 30+ hrs of SP game play. -
