I just got Metro 2033 off of steam and even running in DX9 on High settings, the framerates are not very good. Mostly around 30, with big drops during some points. I meet all the recommended specs but it seems that it just won't run very well on my comp. Am I overestimating the power of this card or should it be able to run it fluently in DX11 mode?
Edit: Turning off Advanced Depth of Field drastically improved my fps in DX11.

I would think you should do better than that. I have the 7850m and I can run DX11 mode, low settings and get 26-30 fps. DX10 and high settings performs quite a bit better (40-50's if I remember right...) Any other games have trouble?

I'm running it on high settings with with a 650m right now lol. Doing okay. 25-30 fps.

Isnt that game just programed poorly/wrong since it seems to run lower FPS on any GFX card.
-
according to notebookcheck, you should be able to run close to 50 frames on high setting at 1600X900, on directx 10. on 1080p on ultra, it would only give close to 20 frames

It is just a bad engine. The biggest meanest desktop cards in the world can't run it at 60 fps maxed out. I don't remember my specific settings anymore but I played it on mostly high and had maybe 45 fps average. This was on a 580m, so the same card as you.

Metro 2033 runs well at medium or high, it just runs horribly at ultra.

I run it at high or ultra, DX11, without Tess or DoF. Runs great somewhere around 45 to 50 fps average.

That's why it's so hard to render properly, because the GPU is overwhelmed by all the crazy render calculations. Remember, the GTX 680 couldn't manage the game at 60FPS max settings.
Metro 2033 running poorly w/ 675M
