Hey Guys playing Metro 2033 and its a great game. I will admit the russian accents get on my nerves after 2 hours. ANYWAY, I can't get any of the trainers to work for the off-line missions. Does anyone here play the steam version with trainers (Is there a non-steam version) or, working cheats (God mode, unlimited ammo). I like playing this way to fully explore (meaning enjoy game). AND, NO I don't play on-line.

Is it steam thats killing my fun???

    Thanks for any replies

Steam will not allow you to cheat, either offline or online.

There are trainers for steam games. You'll find one, search engines will help if you use them.

They allow cheating in SP, but MP, the Anti-Cheat is gonna get ya :)

God Mode and Unlimited Ammo can be enabled from the game's cfg, without trainers...

This is excately why I try to avoid things like steam. You spend $30 upwards to $50 USD on a game and some 3rd party won't let you play it like you want!?!?! !?!?!?!? I can understand online, but in the privacy of my own FREAKING HOME, I can't use something the way I want, AFTER PAYING FOR IT-AGAIN !!?!?!?!? Not to mention the FREAKING game would not install without signing up for F@@cking steam. Did not know that. Now I'm forced to have, what I consider SPYWARE running in the background  Once I am done with this game I will make sure to delete it and its virus/spyware. Theres nothing like having adds for some game I don't want pop up out of no where.

Cheating in Metro 2033 has nothing to do with Steam. And even if it was MP, Steam still has nothing to do with it. The only time Valve has anything to do with cheating is if the game uses Valve's VAC system. Metro 2033 is not a Valve game. Steamworks does not automatically mean a game uses VAC.

You can do whatever you want in the privacy of your own home. Feel free to modify your Steam or game binaries to your heart's content while you are disconnected from their servers. Because you don't have the skills or can't find third-party software that does this isn't Steam's problem, or the game's: it allows you to play the way the game creators intended (which as some people have already pointed out, most games allow game-modifying config/commands anyways).

besides I'll never get why they call them "trainers"... how allowing people to succeed at a game despite lacking the skills can be called "training" is either a gross misnomer or the very best of irony.

This is what I love people who want to keep others from using things they own the way they want to. Its like saying evening though you spent something like $250,000 on a car, I would not be able to use it (can't drive stick) so, I shouldn't be able to get help learning. Its MY GAME, I didn't download a pirated copy, why should I have to go look through the game code-THE TRAINERS are out there, someone already looked through the code and came up with it (why reinvent the wheel). Your comment sounded like one of those annoying IT guys in my office. IF I COULD FIX IT MYSELF I WOULD NOT HAVE ASKED
