I like this idea and it looks like MS is going to give away lots of free content and you'll have to pay for different regions and other things. :)

Free Microsoft Flight hits the skies this spring - News at GameSpot

"After downloading the complimentary core component of Microsoft Flight, gamers can partake in "hours" of activities on the Big Island of Hawaii. Microsoft also mentioned that those who sign in to Microsoft Flight via their Games for Windows monikers will receive free content and other perks. The content and perks up for grabs include an in-game Boeing Stearman aircraft and additional missions to partake in.

Gamers looking to fly further in Microsoft Flight will also be able to purchase additional content in the form of new planes, regions, and "customization options." Microsoft also noted that it plans to release additional content "frequently" via daily challenges and updates. Microsoft did not mention what any of the purchasable items will cost. "

I just want them to make another Combat Flight Simulator. They did an awesome job with CFS 1,2,3. Looks like this time around though they're concentrating on the casual gamer since they accommodate gamepad and runs on older hardware. This is good, but graphically, it looks worse than FSX.

    More flight, less sim.
They did kill of the series after the lack of attention for Flight SImulator X, so its nice to see that they want to relaunch it.

But for real simulator fans theres X-Plane 10 and FlightGear.

Yeah, I lost interest in just flight sims. I want to shoot things! lol. A bigger challenge. But we've got DCS for that now.

Didn't buy it because of the required constant internet connection. I liked HAWX 1 though. Good fun action flight combat game.

Then resort to what we can't discuss on NBR. That's what I always do after I buy the product if the DRM is too intrusive. :)

I want a combat flight sim like Jane's USAF. Best online modern jet warfare ever. It was a great idea. Just don't have anything like it that's reasonably new.

There's a new Janes USAF that was recently released and it leans arcade. :)

Amazon.com: Jane's Advance Strike Fighters: Pc: Video Games

Also Thirdwire puts out some good sim/arcade flight games. I have several and they are a good mix between arcade and sim. Oh and NO DRM

Yeah thirdwire does make some decent stuff especially for a small business. The problem is they all basically use the same Strike Fighters engine from ten years ago.

That Jane's Advance Strike Fighters is nothing like USAF. It's an abomination of a game.

What if, out of nowhere, they offer a combat plane you pay for like $0.99, and you can hop into a server full of unarmed planes and start blowing them up?

No but you can have some nervous pax :D. Exceed banking angle limits and just listen to that symphony of choir of shouting pax and accompanying braking plates :D.

You can't even crash in MS FS games. It just says CRASH. Wow.

Landing in adverse conditions can always be fun. But heck I don't ever recall your landing gear getting ripped off, shoved up into your fuselage, or blow a tire on landing. Hell I blew a tire on landing once in real life and about crapped pancakes. Spun out 180 deg, lucky I didn't flip the damn plane. Tire just blew out. Never see that crap in MS FS.
